Add cream cheese, Rotel tomatoes, chili, hot sauce, chili powder, garlic powder to skillet. Stir until cheese melts. Add milk if the dip is too thick.
Notes:
I used Jimmy Dean hot sausage. I’ve also made this with Tennessee Pride brand sausage.
You can substitute ground beef for sausage if you prefer.
Is Chili Cheese Rotel Dip spicy? The level of spiciness will depend on the heat level of Rotel diced tomatoes sand green chiles you choose.
I use one can of Original Rotel and one can of Hot Rotel. Use MILD Rotel if you are worried about the heat.
If you don't like Rotel, you can substitute salsa.
I use Frank’s Hot Sauce for the hot sauce in the dip. You can also use Tabasco.
Increase or decrease the amount of hot sauce according to your personal preference.
For the chili, I used a can of Hormel chili with no beans. You can substitute an equivalent amount of homemade chili if you prefer.
Sometimes I sprinkle the dip with some chopped green onions or chopped cilantro. YUM!
I make the dip in a skillet. You can also make it in the slow cooker and the microwave.
