Ham & Cheese Croissant Casserole - love this overnight breakfast casserole! Ham, croissants, swiss cheese, eggs, half-and-half, dry mustard, honey, salt and pepper. Assemble the night before and bake in the morning. Great way to use up any leftover holiday ham!!
Chop croissants into 10 to 12 pieces. Place in a lightly greased 9x9-inch deep dish pan.
Sprinkle ham and cheese over chopped croissants.
Whisk together eggs, half-and-half, dry mustard, honey, salt and pepper.
Pour egg mixture over croissant mixture. Press croissants down to submerge into egg mixture. Cover with aluminum foil and refrigerate for 8 to 24 hours.
Preheat oven to 325ºF.
Bake casserole covered for 35 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 25 minutes, or until set. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
Notes:
This breakfast casserole needs to be made at least 8 hours in advance. You can refrigerate it up to 24-hours in advance. The croissants need time to soak up all the yummy egg mixture.
You can use any cheese that you prefer. Gruyere cheese, sharp cheddar cheese, or parmesan cheese are all delicious.
Can substitute heavy cream for half-and-half.
You can double the recipe and bake in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
