Dirty Rice Cajun Quiche Recipe - spice up your brunch game with our mouthwatering Cajun Quiche! Bursting with the bold flavors of dirty rice, andouille sausage, green onions, and cheddar cheese, it's a Southern twist on a classic favorite. Creamy, spicy, and utterly delicious, this quiche is perfect for breakfast, brunch, or any meal of the day.
Prepare the dirty rice mix as directed. Set aside.
In a large skillet, cook andouille sausage over medium-high heat until golden brown.
Place 1 cup of dirty rice and the cooked sausage in the bottom of a deep-dish pie crust. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese and green onions.
In a bowl, whisk together eggs, whole milk, and cajun seasoning. Pour the egg mixture over the sausage mixture.
Place the quiche on a baking pan and bake for 45 to 55 minutes, until a toothpick or knife inserted into the middle of the quiche comes out clean or with a few crumbs. Cool for 10 minutes before cutting into slices.
Notes:
There is no need to thaw or prebake the frozen pie crust before filling and baking.
You can substitute a homemade pie dough or refrigerated pie crust for the frozen pastry.
If you can't find andouille sausage you can substitute smoked sausage or smoked turkey sausage.
Variations/Additions:
yellow onions
green bell peppers
broccoli
heavy cream instead of milk
ham
crawfish
crab meat
I use grated sharp cheddar cheese. You can use any cheese that you enjoy. Monterey Jack cheese or pepper jack cheese.
You can omit the cheese if you prefer.
Cover the edges of the pie crust with foil if they start to get too brown.
Can Quiche be made in advance? Yes! You can assemble the quiche ahead of time and refrigerate it overnight.
Can Homemade Quiche be frozen? Yes! You can make this quiche ahead of time and freeze it baked or unbaked for later.
I prefer to freeze the quiche unbaked. Assemble the quiche and place it in the freezer. Once the quiche is frozen place it in a freezer bag.
When ready to bake, thaw the quiche in the refrigerator before baking as directed below.
To freeze the baked quiche, cool it to room temperature and wrap the pie dish with plastic wrap and aluminum foil. When ready to reheat, thaw and reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.
How long will Homemade Quiche last? The quiche will keep for 3 to 4 days covered in the refrigerator.
Store leftovers in airtight plastic containers in the refrigerator.
