Crispy Baked Buffalo Wings Recipe - perfectly seasoned crispy buffalo wings, generously coated in a classic spicy and buttery Buffalo Sauce. Say goodbye to the mess and excess calories of deep frying because this recipe offers the same irresistible flavor in a healthier way. Whether it's lunch, dinner, or a game-day gathering, these wings are a crowd-pleaser. Don't forget to serve them up with celery and your choice of either creamy ranch or tangy bleu cheese dressing.
Put chicken pieces in a plastic bag. Pour 1 cup of hot sauce over wing and toss to coat. Seal bag and let marinate for a few hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with foil and set baking rack inside.
Place chicken pieces on rack and discard marinade. Bake for 30 minutes. Flip wings and cook 15-20 minutes longer, until chicken is crispy.
Meanwhile, combine butter and hot sauce in small saucepan and cook over medium heat, whisking until combined. Transfer wings to large bowl, add sauce, toss to thoroughly coat, and serve immediately with blue cheese or ranch dressing and celery sticks.
Notes:
I cut whole wings into drumettes and flats. You can use whole wings if you prefer.
For extra crispy wings, pop them under the broiler to crisp up for a minute or two before removing them from the oven.
How Long Does It Take to Bake Chicken Wings? Chicken wings take approximately 50 minutes or more to bake, flipping them halfway through cooking time to allow even crispness.
Why so long? To allow the fat and moisture to render out fro the chicken wings so that the skin crisps to a delicious golden brown.
I use Frank’s Red Hot Sauce. Franks Red Hot Buffalo Wing Sauce or Crystals Hot Sauce also works great.
For spicier wings, add more hot sauce and/or cayenne pepper to the butter sauce.
For extra flavor, season the wings with salt, black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder before marinating. I start with 1/2 tsp of each.
