Sausage Biscuit Pinwheels - only 2 ingredients! We LOVE these things! SO quick and easy to make and they taste great. Perfect for a weekday morning, brunch, tailgating, parties, and the holidays! I always have the ingredients on hand to whip up a batch. Double the recipe for a crowd. These things fly off the plate!
Separate each biscuit into two layers. You will have a total of 16 biscuit rounds.
Place the biscuit halves on parchment paper - 4 across and 4 down, touching edges. Use a rolling pin to create a rectangle. You may need a little flour to make sure the dough doesn’t stick.
After the dough is rolled out, top with sausage. Spread the sausage evenly on top of the dough.
Starting with the long edge, roll up jelly roll style. Slice dough into 1-inch pieces.
Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, until the biscuits are golden brown.
Notes:
I use Tennessee Pride or Jimmy Dean hot sausage. Feel free to substitute turkey sausage.
Do NOT cook the sausage before spreading it on the biscuit dough. The sausage will cook along with the biscuits.
Use a serrated knife to easily cut the dough.
Feel free to add some shredded cheddar cheese on top of the sausage, if desired. These are also great with a can of diced green chiles added on top of the sausage.
