Salted Caramel Rice Krispie Treats Recipe - dangerously delicious! Rice Krispie cereal, soft caramel, sweetened condensed milk, butter, mini marshmallows, and flaky sea salt. Drizzle the treats with a quick caramel frosting to put them over the top. Great dessert for parties, bake sales, potlucks, and snacking.
Grease a 9x13-inch pan with cooking spray or softened butter. Line with parchment paper leaving a few inches of overhang.
Melt butter over medium heat in a large pot or Dutch oven. Add caramels and cook until melted.
Add sweetened condensed milk and sea salt. Stir until combined.
Add marshmallows and stir until melted and smooth. Remove from heat.
Carefully stir in rice krispie cereal. Stir well to combine.
Transfer the cereal mixture to the prepared pan and press down gently with parchment paper. Be careful not to overpack the cereal. Sprinkle the top of the treats with additional flaky sea salt, if desired.
Refrigerate treats for 1 to 2 hours, until cool and set. Cut into squares and serve.
Notes:
I use Werthers Soft Caramels or Kraft Soft Caramel candies in this recipe.
I use Maldon Sea Salt Flakes in this recipe. You can get a box on Amazon: https://amzn.to/42DYtTv
Use a piece of parchment paper to press the cereal mixture into the pan.
I topped the treats with a quick caramel frosting made with heavy cream, brown sugar, butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract.
