Slow Cooker Tomato Basil Chicken Recipe - tender chicken slow cooked in a creamy tomato Alfredo sauce. Super easy to make and tastes great! Chicken, marinara sauce, Alfredo sauce, garlic, diced tomatoes, and Italian seasoning. Whether served over spaghetti noodles with some crusty garlic bread, or on a bed of fluffy rice, this chicken is a winner.
Season boneless skinless chicken breasts with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
Heat olive oil in a larger skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken to the pan and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side. Place chicken in a 6-qt slow cooker.
In a small bowl, stir together Alfredo sauce, marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, garlic cloves, and Italian seasoning. Pour sauce over the chicken breasts.
Cover the crockpot and cook on LOW heat for 5 to 6 hours.
Garnish the chicken with fresh basil and serve over your favorite pasta.
Notes:
You can use any chicken in this dish. Boneless skinless chicken breasts, boneless skinless chicken thighs, or chicken tenderloins all work great.
My favorite store-bought spaghetti sauces are Trader Joe’s Roasted Garlic Marinara (green label), Carbone, Rao’s, and La Famiglia DelGrosso.
My favorite store-bought Alfredo sauce is Rao's.
What can I add to the pasta sauce?
Sauteéd onion
Chopped bell peppers
Sliced mushrooms
Fresh spinach
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
