Slow Cooker Sweet Garlic Chicken- a weeknight favorite. Just dump everything in the crockpot and let it do the work! Whisk together apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, ginger ale, soy sauce, minced garlic, ginger, onion powder, garlic powder, BBQ seasoning, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes. Pour sauce over chicken.
Cover the slow cooker. Cook on LOW for 6 hours.
Shred chicken with two forks. Combine corn starch and water. Add to the slow cooker and cook on HIGH for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, until the sauce has slightly thickened.
Serve the shredded chicken over rice, potatoes, or pasta.
You can use any boneless chicken that you prefer. Breasts, tenders, thighs all work fine.
Feel free to add some vegetables to the mixture – bell peppers, onions, asparagus, or broccoli would be good.
Can I use frozen chicken? Yes! You can add the chicken to the slow cooker frozen.
Can I cook the chicken on HIGH? Yes. The chicken will take 2 or 3 hours on HIGH, just depending on your slow cooker.
To make a freezer meal for later, simply place chicken and sauce ingredients in a gallon freezer bag. Place the bag in the freezer and pull it out when you are ready to cook. You do not need to thaw the contents of the freezer bag before placing it in the slow cooker.
Is Sweet Garlic Chicken gluten-free? For a gluten-free dish, use a gluten-free soy sauce and BBQ seasoning.
