Memorial Day is right around the corner. We are going to be firing up the grill for some bbq chicken and pork. I decided to make my own BBQ Seasoning this year. I love to make my own seasonings because you can control the amount of salt and other ingredients. This is great sprinkled on chicken, pork, steaks, or even burgers. Whip up a batch today for all of your upcoming cookouts.
How to Make Homemade Barbecue Seasoning
This seasoning is effortless to make. Simply whisk together kosher salt, brown sugar, smoked paprika, sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and dry mustard. Use immediately or store in an air-tight container.
- The seasoning will keep up to two months in an air-tight container. I like to store it in a mason jar.
- Adjust the seasoning mixture to your personal preference.
- For a spicier seasoning mix, add cayenne pepper.
How to use BBQ Seasoning
This seasoning makes a great hostess gift or takeaway gift for your guests at your Memorial Day BBQ. You can use this seasoning on any meat that you prefer. Chicken, pork, steaks, burgers, and hot dogs. You can even use it to make your own BBQ potato chips, toss it with french fries, or popcorn – YUM!

The smoked paprika makes all the difference, doesn't it?
I made this yesterday when I got home from work. I marinated some pork chops in Coke Zero for a couple of hours and then patted them dry and rubbed in the BBQ seasoning and put them on the grill. We were really pleased with how they turned out. Thanks!
I love to make my own seasonings. I haven't seen a BBQ one before. Great idea as a leave behind hostess gift. Thanks!
