Pepperoni Crescent Popovers - a quick and easy pizza roll recipe! Crescent rolls stuffed with pesto, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, pepperoni, and mozzarella cheese baked in muffin cups. Serve with warm pizza sauce. Makes a great party appetizer, afternoon snack, quick lunch, or dinner. You might want to double the recipe. These things never last long at our house!
Heat oven to 375°F. Grease a 12-cup muffin pan. Set aside.
Unroll one dough sheet onto a cutting board. Using pizza cutter, cut dough in half lengthwise, then cut each half crosswise into thirds to make 6 equal pieces.
Sprinkle dough with half of the garlic powder and Italian seasoning. Spread 1/4 cup of pesto evenly over the dough. Top each dough piece with 6 pepperoni slices. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of cheese over all dough pieces.
Starting at the short end, roll up each piece; place seam side down in a muffin cup. The ends of the dough will be facing up.
Repeat with remaining can of crescent dough.
Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until tops are golden brown.
Serve warm with pizza sauce.
Notes:
Can substitute turkey pepperoni for regular pepperoni.
I use shredded cheese. Feel free to use cheese slices.
