Chocolate Crumb Cake
I love a good crumb cake and this Chocolate Crumb Cake is a new favorite! It is great for breakfast or dessert! The best part about this cake is that it is super easy to make. I cheated and used a box of cake mix for the base of the crumb cake. Once the cake was mixed up, I topped it with a quick and easy homemade chocolate crumb topping. The cake was ready for the oven before the oven was preheated!
We ate this Chocolate Crumb Cake for dessert with some vanilla ice cream. Go big or go home, right? It was SO good!! I shared some of the cake with a friend, and she loved it too! This cake would be great if you have overnight guests or an early morning tailgate! It is a real crowd pleaser!
The cake can be made a day or two in advance and stored in an air-tight container. I usually only make this the day or night before we eat it because I have ZERO self-control around this cake! LOL!

Wonderful crumb cake! Nothing but compliments!
Hi Stephanie, I have loved all the recipes I have made from your site. All have turned out great, just as depicted in the pictures and notes. This is not always the case when trying recipes from blogs. I cannot wait to make this chocolate crumb cake. I will be making it over the weekend. Thanks so much.
Is cake flour the same as all-purpose flour?
No, it is different. I tried this with all-purpose flour and the topping sank into the cake.
