After we left San Francisco, we flew over to Los Angeles for a couple of days. I spoke at the IACP Conference one afternoon, but we still managed to pack a lot into our super quick trip.
We saw TONS of celebrities! I included some video for you!!!
We ate at a couple of the “must eat” places, did some shopping and a studio tour.
We had a blast!
Our flight from SFO was delayed getting into LAX. Then, it took forever to get our rental car.
We were completely wiped out, so we decided to grab a quick bite at Trader Vic’s at the hotel.
We shared a pizza and wings – our favorites!
The wings were ridiculously good! I wish I had some right now!
When we checked into the Beverly Hilton, we noticed that the GLAAD awards were being held at the hotel. After our late lunch, we walked around the lobby and saw that the celebrities were starting to arrive. We parked ourselves next to the lobby desk and started star gazing.
We saw Nick Jonas, Demi Lovato, Queen Latifa, Perez Hilton, Derek Hough, the cast of Transparent, some of the ladies from I Am Cait (we never saw Caitlyn Jenner come in), Paula Abdul and others that I can’t remember.
I tried to Snapchat (???? plainchicken) the arrivals. We were super close to Nick Jonas!
He actually walked past us when we were coming down – he stayed in the same tower that we were in at the hotel.
The next morning, we started the day at Paramount Studios for a studio tour.
I booked the tour in advance on their website. I suggest doing the same if you plan on taking a tour.
There is a parking lot directly across from the studios for tour parking.
We broke out in groups of 6 for the tour and rode around the lot in a golf cart.
I was hoping to see some celebrities, but our tour was on the weekend. They weren’t filming anything on the weekend. Boo!
We saw the bench from Forrest Gump.
This is the set that they used to film the Marble Rye episode of Seinfeld.
This is where the Ross’ lived – where Kramer picked them up for a ride in Rusty and then Jerry tried to throw the marble rye up to George. We are HUGE Seinfeld fans, so I was super excited to see this!!
This is a giant water pool. The parking lot is sloped so they can do beach scenes.
They use the big white backdrop to magically put the background in post production.
They showed us movies that were filmed in this tiny parking lot. Hollywood truly does make magic!
I would have never imagined all that movie magic happened here!
We got to tour Dr. Phil’s set!
It is smaller than you think.
We toured through all the sets. You can’t take pictures inside active sets.
I guess it would ruin the magic!
They had just broken down the Veep set. Like, the day before we did the tour. We were SO sad!
We LOVE Veep! Hilarious show!!
Marathon it on HBO if you haven’t seen it. You won’t regret it!
At the end of the tour, we got to look around a warehouse of movie memorabilia.
We really enjoyed the tour. We would definitely do another on our next trip.
After the tour, we had time to grab some breakfast/lunch before I had to speak at the conference.
We got in line for Roscoe’s Chicken N Waffles.
Roscoe’s is a very popular joint in town. There are several locations. Everyone we drove by was packed.
We were starving because we hadn’t eaten since our late lunch the day before.
We ordered a side of Mac & Cheese while we waited on our chicken and waffles.
YUM!!!
The chicken and waffles did not disappoint.
We both devoured our plates!
I spend the afternoon at my conference. We got back to the hotel and decided to grab a drink and a snack before dinner.
We got the chips, guacamole and salsa.
We also shared this GIANT drink!
Look at the straws!!
SO, we didn’t feel like getting dressed up for dinner after that cocktail.
We had a table by the pool, so we decided just to stay at the hotel and eat.
Chicken Legs got the burger. It was really good.
I got an order of ribs. They were really good and the perfect amount of food.
We saw a few celebrities by the pool at the Beverly Hilton at dinner.
Most notably was Cedric the Entertainer.
We grabbed breakfast before heading out of town.
We went to The Griddle Cafe in West Hollywood.
Chicken Legs got the Oreo Pancakes.
The waiter suggested that he only get one pancake because they were big.
A BIG thank you to the waiter! Look how big that is!
It was crazy good.
I got the French Toast.
It was seriously the best French Toast I’ve ever eaten.
Ridiculous!
We headed over to Rodeo Drive for a little retail therapy before we went to the airport.
We grabbed a snack at Ford’s Filling Station in the airport before boarding our flight.
The Bloody Mary was one of the best we’ve ever had. Give it a try if you are in LAX!
So long LA!
Until next time!!!
