Today for Football Friday I am sharing a tailgating/holiday recipe – Peanut Butter Butterfinger Balls. I have a serious weakness for anything with Butterfingers and peanut butter. Needless to say, I have zero self-control around these things! Peanut butter, powdered sugar, and crushed Butterfingers dipped in chocolate. OMG! YASSSS!!! They are basically kicked-up Buckeye Balls.
How to Make Peanut Butter Butterfinger Balls
These candy balls are very easy to make. Simply mix together powdered sugar, graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, crushed Butterfinger candy bars, and crunchy peanut butter. Form the peanut butter mixture into balls. Dip the balls into melted chocolate candy coating. Place the chocolate balls on parchment paper to set up.
- I used crunchy peanut butter in these balls. Feel free to use creamy if you don’t like chunks of peanuts.
- You can make these Butterfinger Balls several days in advance and store them in an air-tight container until you are ready to serve them.
- Decorate the balls with any color sprinkles – Christmas, valentines, birthday sprinkles, or your favorite team colors.
- This recipe makes about 3 or 4 dozen, depending on how big you make the balls.
- Store the candy in an air-tight container.
- This candy can be easily frozen, stored in the refrigerator, or at room temperature if you’ll be eating them within a day or two.
- The Butterfinger Balls will last about a month in an air-tight container stored in the refrigerator.

I just made these today for company this weekend. They turned out beautiful. I used a tablespoon of the mixture and rolled into balls. It made 87 balls. Wow! I dipped 40 of them in white bark and put fall sprinkles on them and then I froze the rest. So pretty and very tasty.
I made these just as the recipe says (except I used creamy peanut butter), and they are soooo good! I pulsed the graham crackers, then the butterfingers in the food processor – super simple and I loved the texture. My only challenge was how to get the chocolate coating on where it looks pretty… They remind me of my favorite Easter Candy – butterfinger eggs!
In the video it doesn’t look like melted butter just softened butter. Should the butter be completely melted?
It is melted butter
HOW MANY CUPS IS THE 5 CRUSHED BUTTERFINGER BARS? I HAVE THE BITS AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE CUP MEASUREMENT. I HAVE MADE THESE AND THEY ARE GREAT!!
I DON’T KNOW HOW MANY CUPS IT IS. I HAVEN’T MEASURED THEM.
I used 2- 8 oz bags of the bits. Worked perfect! Enjoy.
Do you have to use Graham cracker crumbs? Or could I just exclude them all together?
You would need to replace them with some other type of finely crushed cookie.
What is the best way to dip them in chocolate and it come out smooth looking?
I use a fork and shake off the excess. You can see it in the video. You shouldn’t have any issues if you use the almond bark. It melts beautifully.
What did you use to melt the chocolate
Recipe states very plainly 1 & 1/4 cup melted butter, 5 butterfinger bars, crushed.
So, this recipe has 2 and a half sticks of butter in addition to the peanut butter? Someone clarify please. That seems awfully greasy. I'd love to make them but that can be expensive.
I made the recipe as written and they looked like the picture. Adjust the recipe however you please.
Can you freeze these
You can definitely freeze the undipped balls. I haven't frozen the dipped balls, so I can say for sure how they would be.
What should the consistency be after mixing the ingredients? They seem very moist.

Looking forward to trying these! Do you recommend salted or unsalted butter?
Either is just fine. I used unsalted
Is it 1/4 cup of melted butter or 1 and 1/4 cups of melted butter? Confusing…
so sorry you are confused……. It is 1 and 1/4 cups of butter
Hi, I've searched for the Butterfinger bits. No longer available at Target, Walmart or Amazon. Where can you purchase them? Thanks!
If you can't find them, you can crush up 5 regular sized Butterfinger candy bars.
