Cat Photos to Make You Happy

Good Morning! Happy Meow Monday! I’m here to brighten your day with some photos of cute cats! I know it helps me! I hope it helps you get the week started on the right foot.

The cats are soaking up the last few days of their screened deck. This time next week they will be in their new house. Little do they know, the new outdoor space is at least twice as big as their current space. They are going to go crazy!!

I’m not looking forward to the impending car ride to the new house. If you have any tips on moving cats – let me know in the comments.

Keep reading for more pictures and updates!   If you want more cat photos and videos, follow us on Instagram: @mackandmango and @plainchicken

Mango spent the afternoon bird watching.

Looks like the heat got to Mack.

Yep! He had to go to his standard half in half out spot. Smart boy!

They spent a relaxing afternoon hanging out on the table. Mango got her favorite spot under the table.

Mango had to move to the tabletop to get a better view of the squirrels.

Looks like I am interrupting a sibling meeting.

Love this belly shot!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a PURRFECT week.

Steph

  1. Everyone has given great cat-moving tips so all I’ll add is All the Best with the move, Stephanie, Chicken Legs, and the M&Ms! Can’t wait to see Mango and Mack enjoying their gigantic new outdoor space! Stephanie, thanks for all the smart and hard work you put into your website. It’s much appreciated by so many, including this human who serves a furry orange overlord named Milo who’s almost a twin of Mackster.

  2. Hello! Try Feliway Spray inside their carriers. It has cat pheromones that help calm kitties. It’s a great product. They do offer a diffuser you plug in but those aren’t as effective as the Spray. You can get it on amazon or at chewy.com and other stores. Good Luck!

  3. Well this is how we did it. First put cats in carriers from house to car. Once everyone is situated in the car open the carriers. Place cat box behind the front passenger seat. Put water and food dishes behind the driver seat. The carriers will be on the back seat. We drove for 8 hours with our kitty. Ollie meowed for about 15 minutes tops let them sit with you if you want or if they want to or just let them do there thing. They may go back in the carrier or look around the car.

  4. I had a yellow male named Rowdy who definitely lived up to his name and a gray calico named Fancy who was a one person cat that sprouted 16 legs when I would try to pick her up and put her in a carrier. Living on an island and constantly having to evacuate for hurricanes was a definite challenge.I would stop by the vet’s for a sedative for the long ride to central Alabama. He would give me two extra for the return trip. Rowdy took his with no problem. Fancy however became a saber tooth tiger and once bit me all the way to the bone on my thumb. So if you can get sedatives in liquid form definitely do that. Once we made the final move back to central Alabama I boarded them until all the furniture was moved into the house. My suggestion iś that when you move them into their new home isolate them for a few hours or a day to one room until they get used to the new surroundings and smells. When you put them in a carrier for the trip put a favorite blanket, a favorite toy or two and maybe one of your old used tee shirts with your scent on it to relax them. And be sure and stop by the doctor’s office for a sedative for y’all!😄😄😄! You’ll need it moving cats!!!!!

  5. Traveling by car with a cat(s) is challenging at best! With my long hair calico, Suki, I had to take her outta her carrier, she hated it so. She preferred to lay on the floor by my feet on the passenger side. Then at our destination she’d actually let me put her in her carrier to go into the building be it the house or vets office. She never missed an opportunity to “teach” her human a thing or two. Thanks so much for the cute pics of the M&M’s 💞 and good luck.

  6. Enjoy your website, both cats and recipes. About 10 years ago, we moved 3 hours away and transported our Nettie in a cat carrier. She sat in the front seat and yowled all the way. Did not work well, but that’s just her. Since then, got a new rescue cat, about 6 months old, who loves to travel as long as he feels secure in a carrier. All we have to do is open the carrier door and he’s in it ready to go! I had to have an orange cat, which is your fault! 😉 He’s named Dobby, our house elf. Sorry about Grandpa Felix. Our Nettie has since passed, 17 years old.

  7. I do miss seeing Felix but love seeing the M&M’s.

That pic is so funny where it looks like you interrupted a special Mack and Mango meeting haa haa. Like they were keeping something secret from you lol. Maybe they are talking about a birthday gift for you.

Your cats are and always have been, big personality, plus very expressive faces, love it!!!

  8. I never miss Meow Monday and miss my beloved female orange cat named Sammy who shared my home many yrs ago with two calicos Natasha and Tigger. Natasha lived to be 19yrs old.

  9. Such beautiful and cute pics of the M&M’s!!!!

I guess the toys, catnip bananas, treats. maybe soft music will help. I really have never traveled with cats except to the vet.

    Good luck!!!!!

  10. I have a big black cat named Micky and he does not ride well in the car at all. We got a tote and cut holes in it with a drill bit that make holes. I didn’t know such a thing existed but my husband did. I put a towel down and Micky inside with the lid (holes there too). He has room to lay down comfortably. But the secret to an uneventfully car ride is this medicine that the vet gave us (liquid form) I mix some up in his favorite food (Friskies Lil Shakes) and he licks it up and it calms him down. I give it to him about two hours before the car ride. It really helps a lot and he’s much calmer at the vet.
I can send you a picture of the tote if you would like. Micky too.

  11. Good morning my husband and I helped our daughter and son-in-law out when they moved from AZ to NC. A long trip lol Our SUV had her 2 cats their truck had their 2 dogs. What we did was put the cats in a large crate (big dog size) and we had traveling bowls for water/food. We also had a traveling litter box that worked great. We did stop after a several hours of driving to let them roam around the SUV. We also had pet friendly hotels lined up for us to stop for the night. We moved them 2 times this way. If you want more info, please contact me.

  12. Contrary to most tips, I say don’t feed either before if the tide is going to be a long one. Just have some treats to give from time to time. Also have one of their favorite toys/blanket in the carrier…a little bit of home is a comfort in a strange situation. Cold water if it’s going to be hot. Hope this helps.

  13. I had taken a break from the internet for a while. Catching up on all my favorite sites now and I just saw the news of Grampie Felix. I am so sorry for your loss. Felix was such a cute kitty and had a cute attitude when it came to pictures. I never new the story of how you came to have him join your home. I love it when people take elderly pets – he had a beautiful life with you all and certainly was loved.

  14. I made the pineapple casserole from your post yesterday. It was quite a hit at our family’s cookout! Thanks!

  15. your cats look so happy. I just got the newest one, her name is Sammy & she is now in the garage until
she gets used to being in the country & is introduced to Violet, hope they get along. hope you & yours have a great 4th of July.
