The BEST Baked Chicken

This is SO easy and it is TO DIE FOR delicious!  It is probably in my top 5 favorite chicken recipes.  I was able to assemble this in the time it took for the oven to preheat.  This could also be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator.  I think that would only make the chicken taste better to sit in the honey mustard mixture all day!   Make sure to spoon some of the sauce that is in the pan over the chicken when serving.  You don’t want to waste any of that goodness.  Chicken Legs cleaned his plate in record time and requested to have this again the next night.  It was that good! This is obviously going in our regular dinner rotation.

Cheesy Honey Mustard Chicken with Bacon & a Touch of Lemon

This Cheesy Honey Mustard Chicken is very simple to make. Season chicken breasts with lemon pepper then pour a mixture of honey, dijon mustard, lemon juice and paprika over the seasoned chicken. Bake the chicken for about 20 minutes and then top the chicken with bacon and cheese! Let the chicken finish baking until the cheese has melted. SO easy! I had the chicken prepped before my oven had time to preheat and dinner was on the table in about 30 minutes. Such a great quick and easy weeknight meal!

  1. Have a honey allergy … Do you think maple syrup would work in place of honey? Might be too runny?

  2. I actually turned the chicken breast in a little cornstarch and added the lemon pepper. Sauce was thicken and stayed on the breasts. It was delicious and got the flavor of the sauce on every bite

    1. Sure! Just make sure to adjust the cooking time to ensure the chicken has an internal temperature of 165ºF.

  3. In the never ending search for new chicken recipes this showed up on a search. Just cleaned up the clean plates after this dinner. My husband loved it and he can be picky. Have already sent it to a friend. It will become a regular and is good enough for company.

  4. Excellent dish! Entire family enjoyed it. This recipe has been added to our rotation. Thank you for sharing.

  5. Just put this in the fridge now to marinate for dinner 🙂 can't wait to try it… everything I make of yours is awesome.

  6. One of my personal favorite recipes. Can't go wrong with is for family dinners. Everyone loves it.

  7. I'm eating this right now. It is yummy. It has a nice flavor and it was easy to make. I did add some crushed red pepper to it, but I like a little spice. Thanks for the recipe!

  8. I made this last Monday night for my Dad when he came through on his way back to Brasil (long story). I added mushrooms at the same time as the bacon bits, but otherwise didn't change a thing. This is absolutely delicious!!! It tastes very much like Alice Springs Chicken at Outback. I'm in love with this dish! My dad was highly impressed! The only thing I'll do differently next time is decrease the lemon juice just a tiny bit. Thank you so much for a fabulous recipe!

  9. My husband is getting seriously tired of chicken (its the cheapest thing here in hawaii), so i've been looking for new ways to mix it up… i've been everywhere from panko to brown sugar, to attempting to make chickfila (be cause it doesn't exist here and we absolutely love it). i can say that i tried this recipe today (trial to see if my husband would actually eat it) and the chicken turned out absolutely amazing! unfortunately i didn't get the chance to try it with the lemon juice (didn't have any). this definitely will show him that there is a lot more left to chicken than just panko.

thank you thank you thank you

  10. calkari – this doesn't have a strong mustard flavor (I hate mustardy stuff too). The honey is the dominant flavor. I think this chicken is super delicious!

  11. Does it have a really strong mustardy flavor. I love honey mustard that does not have the strong mustard flavor to it. Is this something I should skip?

  12. Rachel – I have only made this with thawed chicken. If you use frozen, you will need to increase the cooking time by at least 10 minutes so the chicken can thaw. The time will depend on how thick your chicken is. You will just have to play with the time if you use frozen chicken. I usually just take my chicken out of the freezer and put it in the fridge the night before or the morning I plan on making this.

  13. This was delicious! It reminded me of Alice Springs Chicken at Outback. We will definitely be making this again!!

  14. This is in the oven right now! Just have to say that I always LOVE your recipes! Many of our favorites are Plain Chicken dishes – love knowing that anything you post will likely be a home run at our house! Thanks!!

  15. I know what I'm making tonight! Think I'll let them sit in the honey goodness today and see how it tastes tonight. Thanks for sharing!
