Cat Photos to Make You Happy
I don’t know about you, but I need Meow Monday more than ever! There is a lot of difficult news out there right now, and I really enjoy taking a break with some cute cat photos.
As hard as we try we can’t seem to keep the littles off the countertops, they still jump up there all the time. This was never an issue before. All of our other cats were always too old to jump that high. I hate it, but I can’t control them. Whenever I catch them on the counter I try and shoo them off. Maybe one day they will behave! LOL!

This is the face I get when I tell Mack not to get on the counters. He thinks that he is the boss. Who am I kidding. He totally is.
I was cleaning up the kitchen the other day and Mango jumped up and started to help. By help I mean lay on my towel and get her cat fur everywhere. She is a flying cat, so I think it will be many year before I can break her of this bad habit.
Here’s Grandpa checking out the common area and wishing he could get on the countertops too. Sorry Felix. We won’t be building a ramp to the countertops for you. At least one cat is behaving!

Cute cats. I miss my one cat who looks like the cat in the top photo. (I had to give up ownership after I went through a severe trauma and couldn’t afford to keep her.
Have you tried talking to them. If you are consistent they will recognize the words. And stop because you don’t want them to do that. What all you other people are doing can and will stress out your cat. That is never a good thing. I talk to my orange tabby like he was human and trust me they are a lot smarter than you are giving them credit for.
I also used a spray bottle——worked for me! Love seeing what the “kids” are up to,always cute!
Avoid spraying them with water if possible, just teaches them not to trust you. Instead get one of those automated scaat cat spray cans, or just try the foil.
I love seeing photos of your furkids! My problem, though, is when I open Instagram I get caught in the vortex of looking and ohhing and ahhing at all the cat pictures and time just skips by and before I know it the sun is setting and I’ve done nothing all day. Oh, did I tell you I’m a horse person too so that’s the perfect segway into seeing barn cat pictures. 🙂 I’ll be following you!
My cats are allowed on the counters. Its no big deal. I just wipe the counters off before preparing food. How do know how clean the food preparation surfaces are when you go to a restaurant?
I am constantly wiping down the counters. But like you said, it is not a big deal.
I don’t encourage it but I totally allow it. I have 6 cats and it helps for them to have high spaces like the top of the refrigerator for their own space. My desk is the kitchen table and they lay here with me when I work. It grosses some people out but I don’t care. 🙂
I put up with the same thing. So when I cook or have people over the cats usually head for the bedroom. And then I clean the counters and all is good. Spraying with water or the other offered tips only work when we are home. They do what they want when we aren’t around.
Mine do what they want when we are home too! LOL!
A friend of mine used a water pistol. It did the trick –
Did you ever try taking a can with some coins in it and shaking it when one of your kitties are on the counter? Worked for me.

A friend set mouse traps upside down on the countertops so that when the cats jumped up, the traps would release & scare the cats. She did this a few times & the cats stopped jumping up there. Just a thought. Lol

I would never do that either…it”s cruel and could be very dangerous for the cats
I broke my cats of jumping on countertops by putting aluminum foil on the surface… they don’t seem to like the sound it makes when they get up on it.
I have no problem with my Princess jumping up on the countertop. She gets up there, so she can drink water from there. She loves the flow of the water, with my strong supervision of course.
I hate Mondays but your cats sure make me love at least one thing about Monday. I have an orange tabby and he is a loving gentle soul. Please do not ever stop posting pics of your fur babies.
A sprayer filled with water or water pistol will work….trust me!

I go ring my doorbell and off they go. My fur babies want to know who is visiting. Now we all know cats are nosey. Works for me. You gotta love cats !!l
Not always, our large black tiger honey bear thought it was his refreshment
and drank freely when hit with a spray bottle shot again and again , almost asking for it, we gave up….he remained “King Bruno”, for 18 years
Yes exactly ! Get one of those mini water spray bottles you see at Wal Mart !
It is more humane than a water pistol as the water sprays in a fine mist like florists use. I only had to do it one time because I sprayed her directly in the face ! She has Never done it again !! I no longer have to constantly disinfect my counter tops !!
The adive about spraying the cat with a water gun wouldn’t have worked with my cat. She loved playing in water. I had to keep her out of the bathroom when I bathed because love jumping in the tub with me
