Meow Monday – we pay tribute to the life of Fluffy. Fluffy adopted us 10 years ago and stole our hearts right away. She lived a life full of love!
Fluffy
Last week, Fluffy crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. She has been in poor health for a few years, and last Tuesday night she started having trouble walking and went down hill fast. We set her free on Wednesday. We knew this day was coming, but our hearts are still shattered.
Fluffy actually adopted us. She was a stray.
Fluffy started showing up in our back yard in 2008. She would sit in the yard and watch the birds at the bird feeder and then sit in the catnip we had planted outside. When it got dark, she would leave. We just assumed she was going home.
Fast forward several months, she was sitting outside our front door looking inside. She was really skinny, and I realized that she didn’t have a home. My heart broke. I got a bowl of food and put it out for her. Chicken Legs was out of town at the time. I called him and told him that Fluffy didn’t have a home. He said to give her some food. I told him that I already did. We are suckers. If you know anything about cats, you know that we adopted her right then.
Fluffy stayed outside for a few years. We had an old cat, Marmalade, and she couldn’t take another cat inside the house. Jack was already too much for her.
Fluffy had a great setup in the garage. A bed and a heater for the cold weather. We would shut the door at night and let her out in the mornings. She loved to hang out in the garage and watch the neighborhood happenings.
After Marmalade passed away, we took Fluffy to the vet to get checked out. She got a clean bill of health (not even any fleas), and we brought her inside.
She was mad at me for a little while for taking her to the vet, but she eventually got over it and made herself at home.
Fluffy loved drinking water. She would just sit next to her water bowl and enjoy herself for hours. She loved drinking water out of the shower. Every time we walked in the bathroom, we had to turn on the shower for her so she could drink water off the floor.
Fluffy was a soft spoken cat – EXCEPT when she screamed at the top of her little lungs at 4AM. Almost every single night. It was annoying, but it was Fluffy. We learned to deal with it.
Fluffy got SUPER skinny over the past few years despite the fact that she ate ALL the time.
OMG! Every time I turned around she wanted food. She loved rotisserie chicken, fresh cooked ground beef and stinky canned food.
Fluffy loved being outside. She used to try and get out whenever we opened the door. As she got older, she quit trying to escape. LOL! The screened in porch was one of her favorite places to nap. She also LOVED going on car rides. SO crazy, but she just loved getting out in the car.
We were SO lucky that Fluffy chose us to be her cat parents.
We couldn’t have asked for a sweeter more loving cat.
I am going to miss her coming in my office every morning for pets, prancing around the house, asking me to turn on the shower and asking me for food all day long. I’m pretty sure I’m still going to wake up at 4AM because she trained me over the past 10 years to get up at that time. LOL!
We are missing Fluffy terribly.
We are taking comfort in knowing that we gave her a loving and safe home.
We always said she went from the outhouse to the penthouse.
We know that she lived her best life!
She will be in our hearts forever.
Tears in my eyes as I read this. Fluffy was beautiful, and she had a great kitty life with you. She will live on in your hearts, I’m sure. What a sweet recounting of her life. I will miss her on Monday mornings. Thank you for sharing ????
Oh Steph I'm so sorry, you two gave her such a wonderful life. It's so hard giving up our fur babies. I will miss her on Meow Mondays.
I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet Fluffy. What beautiful eyes she had. She reminds me of our Frito, who adopted us by living on our front porch for a year or so. Then she got injured and let me pick her up and take her inside, and she never went outside again! She wasn't so fond of our other kitties, but she followed me from room to room, wherever I went. She even sat on a kitchen stool watching while I cleaned the kitchen. Thanks for reminding me how much I loved her. Perhaps Fluffy and Frito are frolicking together now.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Fluffy was a beautiful cat. She looked like our cat Ito Ito who lived a royal life. She lived in Hawaii for 12 yrs before she flew to Idaho. She had a long and loved life just like Fluffy. I still miss her as you will Fluffy. They remain in our hearts forever. Thank you for sharing her life.
So sorry for your loss, I have enjoyed seeing her each Monday morning and will miss her. Strange how one can grow attached to, and shed a tear for, a kitty only known online. Sending you healing and light.
Steph, I am so sorry to hear about Fluffy. You can find comfort in knowing you spoiled Fluffy and gave her a wonderful home. Fluffy will always be in your heart.

I was so saddened to read your sad news. Fluffy was one in a million. I will miss her too. I read your blog post this morning and cried with you.It was a beautiful tribute. One of the best I've ever read.I held my Molly in my arms and cried for your loss. I love your cats…all the photos makes me feel like I get photo pet each one of them! I’m going to miss Mr. Fluffy each week. I bet he gave out a big squlll at 4:00 am his first morning in cat heaven! Haha ❤️

Fluffy had a life well lived and well loved. Sincere condolences for your loss. It is hard to walk this path (been there too) but you gave her a good life and she gave back to you many loving memories.
