Meow Monday – pictures of cute cats to start the week. Come see what Felix, Mack, and Mango have been up to!
It is with a heavy heart that have to announce that Grandpa Felix has crossed over The Rainbow Bridge.
Felix’s health had been deteriorating over the past year. He had stopped grooming and lost a lot of weight. He started vomiting up blood last week. We took him to the vet and she found a mass near his stomach. We knew it was time to let him go.
We adopted Felix from Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue on June 1, 2019. Felix was very sad at the Haven. He didn’t really eat or get up from his bed. I read about Felix on Facebook and convinced Chicken Legs to go visit him.
We went to Kitty Kat Haven to visit Felix. As soon as Chicken Legs said his name, Felix jumped up and let Chicken Legs hold him. The ladies at the Haven had never seen Felix move! They almost cried. We spent some time with Felix and finalized the adoption. The volunteers at the Haven brought in a pet carrier and Felix walked right in and sat down. He was ready to come home with us!
Such a regal boy.
I miss his sweet face asking to steal my office chair for a nap.
We gave Felix the nickname Grandpa because he treated the kittens like his own. He loved them to death. Mango adored him.
Best buds – they look like twins.
Felix’s favorite place was outside. He loved the heat and the fresh catnip.
During the pandemic, he even became an adventure cat!
Felix had the MOST expressive facial expressions. You knew exactly what he was thinking by looking at his pretty green eyes.
While it might look like he hated his lion cut, he actually LOVED it! He pranced around like the king of the jungle! Grandpa just hated pictures!
Grandpa loved his catnip banana. He would roll around on the floor and rub his face on it.
We are all adjusting to our new normal. Mango keeps waiting for Grandpa to come downstairs in the morning for breakfast. Mack isn’t sleeping on the blankets on the sofa – he misses his nap buddy. The babies have never lived without him.
1, 465 days wasn’t enough days with this sweet boy.

I just read about Grandpa Felix, and am so sad he is gone. I feel your heartbreak and share your tears. He was GORGEOUS! And I love the story of how he and Chicken Legs immediately bonded. Being a senior citizen myself, I always looked forward to reading about Felix’s antics during the week. You and your hubby and Mango & Mack gave him a wonderful, quality life~thank you for adopting him and giving him immeasurable joy and love. He is now hanging with sweet Jack (and the two torties you had when I first discovered Meow Monday). May you all find comfort in days to come.
Aw poor handsome little Felix! I’m so sorry to hear this. But he had the best home with you and Chicken Legs and the kittens.
He was very loved.
