A few weeks ago I was going through my hundreds of cookbooks in the kitchen and rediscovered my Bisquick cookbook.  I started looking through it and found a lot of really good recipes.  We loved the Impossible Taco Pie we had for dinner recently, so I wanted to try another recipe from the cookbook.  I decided on the chocolate chip cookies.  I wanted to see if we could tell a difference from “regular” chocolate chip cookies.  At first, I wasn’t sure about the cookies, so I ate another cookie and another and another.  I concluded that they were pretty good since I couldn’t stop eating them!  Next time I make these I am going to do half chocolate chips and half peanut butter chips.  I think that would put these over the top!

  1. I was looking for a quick recipe and decided to try these! They turned out great. My husband said they were the best cookies I’ve made. Haven’t decided whether to be insulted or not yet….we’ve been married for 52 years and I’ve made a lot of cookies in that time. To think it took that long to make a good cookie!!!

  2. My family enjoyed these cookies. I added a little more Bisquick then called for just to finish off the box that expires at the end of the month. So compensate, I added some addition fat in the form of refined coconut oil. I also added additional chocolate chips on top and sprinkled lightly after baked with fleur de sel.

  3. These cookies were really good! The only changes I made to the original recipe was adding more chips on top before I baked them for looks and when they came out of the oven, I sprinkled them with Fleur de sel (“flower of salt” in French; French pronunciation: [flœʁ də sɛl]. Very tasty and quick to make!

  4. My go to recipe. From box to snacking in 25 min. People can’t believe when I tell them its Bisquick.lol
    Thanks forever,
    Norm

    1. It is a scoop of cookie dough on a teaspoon, not a measuring spoon. You can use a small cookie scoop as well.

      1. These are cooked and sitting on my counter now. I was wanting to mimic a local bakery and this is pretty darn close. Would like it to taste a little more cookie-y.

Still a make again for sure!

Can’t wait for the husband to get home and get his opinion. Son gave them a thumbs up.

  5. Cookies turned out very good. I doubled recipe and used a 1/4 cup to spoon out dough. Also increased the baking time by 2 minutes. Turned out great.

    1. I made these cookies yesterday, they were so delicious. 😋 So easy & with little ingredients. This will be my chocolate chip recipe in the future. I know all my grandkids will love them. I have one vegan niece that I will tell this recipe with gluten free Bisquick. Thank you for sharing.

  6. Never heard of cookies made with Bisquick, but gave them a try today, and they are GREAT! Have enjoyed your recipes for years- just wanted to say thanks!

  7. Oooh-wee! These were great! I only made 1/2 batch, just in case, but later regretted my decision. I'm vegan, so I used ener-g egg replacer, earth balance butter and vegan cc. Yum!

  8. These are the best cc. cookies I have ever made. I finally found the one and only recipe that I will use for the rest of my life. Thank you so much!

  9. a cookie attack had me scrambling in the cupboard. I had a package of Bisquick buttermilk biscuit mix, the 7.5 oz size…I halved the other ingredients and it was a tad loose using the whole egg. Back to the cupboard..1 scoop of vanilla protein powder did the trick. Now they are even super charged!! And tasty.

  10. Hi ,biscuits look lovely but whats a "bisquick mix ? we don't have half the products in England that you use in America. What can i substitute with????

  11. As long as you are reading the Bisquick cookbook, try the broccoli and cheese crustless quiche recipe. It's an oldie but a goody.

  12. Made these tonight and OMG they were great! Soft and chewy and chocolatey! They were so easy to make! Thank you for a great recipe! I will definitely make these again!!

  13. I made these today and they were excellent!! I made mine with dark chocolate chips. They came out to be a cake-y cookie which I like.

  14. These are amazing cookies. They are very simple to make and each one turned out perfectly (which is definitely a change for me:)) I will never use another recipe for chocolate chip cookies. Great job Steph!

  15. Would this work with a gluten free flour? I won't use Bisquick because it isn't organic. If so, would the measurements still be the same? Or I have coconut flour too.

  16. I tend to do my chocolate chip cookies in a bar form (spread the batter out in a jelly roll pan) because it is soooo much easier. I wonder how these would do that way….

  17. They came out tasty. They are a bit crumbly. I added a bit of oil and may use more next time. I also used mint chocolate chips and pecans. I am thinking of trying these sans the chips and going pecan sandies style maybe with double butter.

  18. Just made these today and they are the best ever! Added 1/4 shortening and did half brown and half white sugar. Everyone was surprised that I used baking mix!

  19. When you want your cookies to stay soft & moist put them in an air tight container & put 2 or 3 slices of bread on top of them. They will stay moist, I do it all the time.

  20. so easy! I just made these, they're in the oven now. I ran out of Bisquick, only had 1 and 3/4 cup, so I used flour to substitute the remaining 1 cup. they look good, and the batter was tasty. Hoping they taste as good as yours look!

  21. I made these today .. Like some of the others I found them to be a little on the dry side . I would try an extra egg perhaps because there is enough butter in them. I did use heart healthy bisquik . Will definitely make again . 🙂

  22. I used this recipe tonight for a quick go to dessert…. A Huge Hit!!! thank you for everyone's comments…due to your comments I added 1/4 cup butter shortening, I did the 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, I added an additional 1/2 tsp vanilla, I added just enough buttermilk to moisten, then I used mini chocolate chips, chopped pecans and coconut. These will flatten out and take a little longer to cook but they will be crspy and chewy! Thank you for the recipe and the comments!!!

  23. Just baked some. I cut the recipe in half but used an extra pat of butter. They are delicious! Definitely will be my go to recipe from now on.

  24. I just made these cookies this afternoon. I didn't find them much easier than standard cookies but it is sometimes nice to not have to worry about measuring out each of the separate dry ingredients.

The cookies themselves turned out nice and soft, however, I modified them to include oats, so I added some extra water (added 2 cups oats and 4 tablespoons water). I baked them for 10 minutes and they were very pale on top but nice and brown on the bottom but cooked all the way through.

I probably won't make them again because I like my standard cookie recipe, but they were fun to try. 🙂

  25. Just made these and this is a keeper. So good and super easy. Yes there a bit salty but salty/sweet. This recipe made 40 small cookies for me. People at work will be very happy tomorrow. Thank you for the recipe.

  26. These were some of the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever made. I halved the recipe and I made 16 cookies each with 1.5 tablespoons of dough. I baked them for just over 10 minutes and they were absolutely perfect!!

  27. I made this with a smart balance vegan butter stick in lieu of butter and dairy-free semisweet chocolate chunks (my son is allergic to milk) and they were SO yummy, thanks! Everyone keeps asking me to make them again. Easy too.

  28. I just made these for the first time. They taste pretty good but they are a liitle dry. I used the Heart Smart Bisquick, maybe that's the reason? I will give them another try sometime but maybe use more butter or less Bisquick. Maybe an extra egg??

  29. just made these …tried the half choc. chip and half reece's pbutter chips….they were good…but a little on the dry side and fell apart easy…don't get me wrong…they will get eaten….but needs more staying power somehow….and I am not a cook…so any ideas….love it that they are easy to make tho!!

  30. Ok these were awesome (I like that they are salty) but the mix was dry (had to add 1/4 cup extra butter). My main complaint is that they burned on the bottom while I was trying to get them browned on top. Any tips for that? I have a convection oven so actually e pelted them to come out perfect

    1. I always bake cookies on a stone to avoid burning the bottom. Try it and you will never go back to metal Baking sheets!

    2. I always bake cookies on a stone to avoid burning the bottom. Try it and you will never go back to metal Baking sheets!

  31. These were fluffy but way too salty…I never add salt or use very little in my baking, so I really can taste the salt in the bis quick mix. Quick and easy, tho. Might try with my own baking mix

  32. ok so i made these and blogged about it. mine turned out delicious but not as pretty as yours. check it out at anickh.blogspot.com

  33. lotta people who reviewed this recipe on the betty crocker site said it works better with 1/2 white sugar 1/2 brown sugar and crisco instead of butter.

    1. I always use Crisco sticks or half Crisco, half butter in my chocolate chip cookies because I like them to be thick and crispy rather than flat and gooey. I get trying half white and half brown sugars would improve the recipe, too. My kids also like when I mix half chocolate chips with half butterscotch chips.

  34. My aunt used to make these cookies and I lost her recipe after I lost her. She did not use Butter or Vanilla. She used Wesson Oil. There were only 5 ingredients. I think I will try this one with oil. I helped her make them, but forgot the amount of ingredients. Loved them because they were both cakey and crispy, but mostly because they were so easy to make and just GOOD!

  35. A very good cookie! I didn't have bisquick so I used wheat pancake mix instead and sugar free maple syrup in place of vanilla cuz I was out. Couldn't tell a difference. Thnx for sharing the idea 🙂

  36. Trying it with GF bisquick .. Seems to have worked great just needed to add a bit more butter because it was a bit dry with the gluten free bisquick. After adding the butter (about an extra 1/4 cup) it was great.. Thanks SO excited for gluten free cookies.

  37. Oh my gosh! These are amazing 🙂 I made them tonight, because I was craving chocolate chip cookies. They are so good! Thank you sooo much for this recipe! 🙂

  38. I made these yesterday to munch on during the super bowl. The whole family loved them. I loved how quick and easy they were to make. Thanks for the great recipe!

  39. I've got some bisquick left over from the same pie. I'm not a fan of cookies but these seem easy enough.

  40. Intriguing. I never knew you could make cookies with Bisquick, but I suppose it makes sense. They certainly look good.

  41. Yum Steph…. Those cookies look great…. You need to put all of your cookie recipes into their own cookbook –and then sell it!!!!!

    Betsy
