Summer is in full swing, and, for us, that means lots of grilling. Burgers are one of our favorite things to grill. We probably grill burgers 3 to 4 times a month. We are always mixing up the flavors, and this time we decided to make these delicious pizza burgers.
The burgers were fantastic! They were like a big grilled meatball sub. We added some chopped turkey pepperoni to the burgers, but feel free to add green peppers, onions, mushrooms or any of your favorite pizza toppings to the meat mixture. We topped the burgers with some mozzarella cheese and warm pizza sauce. Pizza and burgers all in one? What's not to love??
1 lb ground chuck
1/3 cup chopped pepperoni (I use turkey pepperoni)
3 Tbsp pizza sauce
1 1/2 tsp Italian Seasoning
3 mozzarella cheese slices
warm pizza sauce
3 hamburger buns
In a mixing bowl, combine the hamburger, pepperoni, Italian Seasoning, egg and pizza sauce. Use your hands or a wooden spoon to mix thoroughly. Divide the meat into three equal portions and gently form them into patties. Grill or broil to desired doneness. Top burgers with mozzarella cheese and pizza sauce.
