Last year a reader made a comment on one of my steak marinades stating that “Charley’s Steak Marinade is the best.” They didn’t leave any contact information or link to the marinade recipe, so I had to start doing some research. I found a recipe on an old message board and it sounded good. It was called Charley’s Steak Marinade, so I decided to give it a try!!

OMG! SO good!! We used the marinade on some big New York Strips and it was incredibly delicious! We let the steaks marinate a few hours in the fridge before popping them on the grill. The marinade is super simple but packs a ton of flavor. There are only 6 ingredients – yellow mustard, garlic, soy sauce, brown sugar, salt and pepper. I know you have those at home right now!

We let the steaks hang out in the marinade for about an hour – flipping them occasionally. You can let them marinate longer if you like. I think the longer the better! Either way, we gave these steaks two thumbs up. Really, really good!!! Give this marinade a try the next time you are throwing some steaks on the grill. I promise you won’t regret it!

We love to serve these steaks with some potatoes, salad, and some rolls. Here are a few of our favorite recipes from the blog that go great with these yummy steaks:

Comments

  1. What sets this apart from others is the nice mustard flavor. Don't believe I would use this on a good NY Strip or Porterhouse etc. but it works well on the cheaper cuts of steak that need help.

  2. Does this give even a hint of a mustard-y taste to the steak? I wouldn’t mind, but if the other three people in the family tasted it, it would be a waste of good steaks! I have to be really careful with any recipe that includes mustard, and three tbsp is a lot!
