Pin This RecipeStop what you are doing and add these Crack Chicken Pinwheels to your tailgate menu this weekend!! OMG! SO good!! Tortillas stuffed with cream cheese, chicken, cheddar, bacon & ranch. You can make them tonight and they will be ready for your football party tomorrow or Sunday. We ate these for lunch the other day, and I could not stop eating them! SO good!!
To cut down on the prep time of these Crack Chicken Pinwheels, I used rotisserie chicken and precooked bacon. I always have both in the house for quick recipes like this. Feel free to use low-fat cream cheese and turkey bacon if you are watching calories. You could also use whole-wheat tortillas. Now they are basically health food! LOL!
These Crack Chicken Pinwheels are always a hit at our parties. I never have any leftovers! I love taking these to tailgates. SO easy to transport to the parking lot!!! LOVE that you can just pop them in the cooler and go! If you aren’t into tailgating, no worries! These Crack Chicken Pinwheels are perfect for all your upcoming holiday parties too!!

Has anyone put some tomatoes in the mixture?
Would also add a smig more moisture. Any thoughts?
Add the tomatoes before adding any milk. You might not need the milk.
I used jarred fire roasted tomatoes 2T chopped finely and I needed just a dash maybe 1tsp milk.
If I’m using frozen grilled chicken, should I cook it according to package and then just let it cook before serving???
yes
I added some chopped dill pickle as it seemed like it could use a little something to brighten them up and add a little more flavor. They were gone in a flash, great recipe!
Is this considered a gluten free recipe? Some of my friends need gluten free meals.
If you use gluten-free tortillas.
Do u roll each totilla by it self after you spread the chicken mixture on each one
Yes
These were a HUGE hit for our football tailgate. The only substitution I used was Fiesta ranch dry seasoning over the regular ranch seasoning and they were perfect! I’ll definitely make them again! Thank you!
Sounds delicious! SO glad everyone enjoyed them.
Making these for super bowl trying canned chicken
I was going to grab cream cheese and sometimes its hard to fix green onions in our grocery. Saw the onion and chive cream cheese. This was literally perfect. I didn’t have to get the chives and it was almost 8 oz (7.5) so I just added a dab of the jalapeno cream cheese we had at home.
I had some chicken breast left from a rotisserie chicken and I hate eating it on its own so I went on a search for an easy recipe to use the leftovers and found this one. I just subbed the Tortilla for a low carb tortilla and they tasted amazing! I just put them in my toaster over for about 15 mins at 375 and they tasted like a Costco Chicken Bake 🙂 thanks for the recipe!
Made these for the first time but I added Frank’s hot sauce to the chicken and I baked half of them. Family preferred them warm over cold
How long did you bake these & at what temp?
Can you use ham instead of chicken? If so do you chop the ham?
what about these for tailgating? could I make the night before….cut then and store in plastic container or should I wait to cut when we get to the tailgate? thanks….everyone’s ideas are amazing!
oh….we travel 2 hours to tailgate and tailgate all day depending on game time. Also we can keep on ice, etc.
Either way would be fine.
These were great! I thinking adding something sweet like craisins or adding hot sauce like someone else mentioned would be great as well! I made these for the first time today and I think I probably should have added a little more milk and spread the mix a little thinner for best results. I’m also not sure I got the right ranch mix.. but still very good!
Silly question. Are these served cold? If so could I maybe bake them?
I serve them cold
I think that make things a bit messy? Typically pinwheels are a cold appetizer
Making these tonight! My wife is taking them to her holiday party at the prison where she is an officer!
Thank you for this idea!!
Hi, Stephanie! I recently began an externship that requires half my day to be at a clinical site, and the second half of my day either on campus doing labs, or at home doing online schooling. I have now made these several times – they are PERFECT for me to eat during my drive from the clinical site to campus, and give such a great burst of protein and energy that I haven’t dealt with the “after-lunch crash” that we all know so well! These are delicious, easy to make, and fun to mix up – thank you so much for sharing this recipe!
That is awesome!!! So glad you enjoyed them!
Great recipe we loved these, accidentally used fiesta ranch dip and the extra spice was amazing!!
YUM!
Are bacon bits in the bag good to use
You can use bacon bits if you prefer.
These were amazing! The first time I made them they were gone overnight! The second time I made them I added some Frank’s Red Hot for some flavor and spice and they were awesome!! I’m saving this recipe to make again and again! Thanks so much!!
I’m going to have to try them with the hot sauce next time – YUM!
How muach hot sauce did you add? This sounds good!
I can’t get the dry ranch mix here where I live so could I use the salad dressing instead?
If you click on the words “ranch mix” in the list of ingredients in the recipe, it will take you to a homemade ranch mix that is awesome!! 😍
How many does this make. If feeding folks of 30, would you triple the recipe?
It just depends on how thick you slice the pinwheels, but one batch should get you about 3 dozen.
For the Hidden Valley mix do you use the dressing packet or the dip mix packet?
I always use the dressing packet
Can the mixture be made the day before, refrigerated, then made into the pinwheels the next day?
You can. You will need to let the mixture come to room temperature so you can spread it easily.
You can also make the tortillas and refrigerate them and slice them when ready to serve. They don't get soggy.
Can I freeze these prier to cutting them?
this looks so yummy.
These will be a great lunch/snack for Keto/LC with Carb Smart Tortillas! Thanks for sharing!!
Can you freeze them -before you slice them or after ?
I’ve never frozen these, so I don’t know. I’m not sure if cream cheese freezes well.
what kind of cooked chicken should we use?
Any cooked chicken works. I used rotisserie
about how many will this make?
Yield: Approximately 3 Dozen Pinwheels
We like adding dried cranberries to our dried beef and green onion roll ups.
Might have do these and add the dried cranberries to these for a pop of flavor!!
I might add a splash of Worcestershire sauce next time and chopped green onion. They were good but needed a boost of additional flavor.
This sounds good. I want to try this without the bacon. I plan to go to a cook out today and may try this one! Thanks.
Try chopped green chiles to the mix for a slight zip…mild but so good…been making them similar for years for parties and always a huge hit. Also minced black olives…. so good.
When you say "1-1/2 Tbsp ranch mix", are you talking about Hidden Valley dry salad dressing mix or the already made ranch dressing for salads? These look great and easy. Can't wait to make them.
The dry mix
Sounds delicious! Do you think canned chicken would work okay with this?
If you prefer canned chicken, I'm sure that will be fine.
So easy and they look delicious.
