Oreo Truffle Turkeys for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a week later this year, so I have been busy baking up a ton of Thanksgiving desserts. I am going to share several desserts with you this week. First up are these super cute Oreo Cookie Ball Turkeys! These are one of the cutest things I’ve ever made. They are also super easy! I mixed up the Oreo Cookie Ball mixture and then pressed the mixture into a mini muffin pan. Once they were firm, I decorated them like turkeys! They were almost too cute to eat – almost.

How to Make Oreo Turkeys

This dessert is super easy to make with only a few simple ingredients. Place oreo cookies in a food processor and process until they are finely crushed. In a large bowl, combine crushed cookies and room temperature cream cheese. Scoop oreo mixture with a small cookie scoop and press into a mini muffin pan. Refrigerate the pan for an hour or until firm.

Remove oreo balls from the muffin pan. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate chips. Dip balls in melted chocolate. Immediately place 4 candy corn pieces pointing down sticking up from the cookie ball to make the turkey’s tail feathers. Place two candy eyeballs under the candy corn to make the turkey face. Place mini M&M on its side in between the eyes to make the turkey’s beak. Repeat with the remaining cookie balls.

Helpful Tips & Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can substitute chocolate candy coating for melted chocolate chips.
  • Use regular, not Double Stuf Oreos. Double stuff has too much cream filling for this recipe.
  • For best results, use regular cream cheese not low-fat.
  • If you don’t have a food processor, finely crush the Oreos in a large resealable bag using a rolling pin or meat mallet.
  • I like to use a fork or chocolate dipping tool to dip in chocolate.
  • Can Oreo Turkeys be frozen? Yes, they can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
    • Thaw in the refrigerator overnight.
  • Store oreo truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator
