How to Make Hash Brown Casserole

This recipe is super easy to make with only a few simple ingredients. Place frozen hash brown potato patties in the bottom of a baking dish sprayed with cooking spray. In a large skillet, cook sausage until no longer pink. Drain excess grease. In a bowl, combine cooked sausage and cream cheese. Stir to combine. Sprinkle the sausage mixture over hashbrowns. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and Rotel diced tomatoes and green chiles.

Whisk together eggs, milk, garlic powder, and onion powder in a large bowl—season with salt and black pepper. Pour the egg mixture over the sausage mixture. Bake uncovered in a preheated oven until the eggs are set. Garnish with parsley or green onions.

What to Serve with Hash Brown Breakfast Casserole

This casserole is a favorite at our house. I love the hash brown patty crust. It is just the right amount of potatoes for me. We love this dish at breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and especially Christmas morning. To balance the richness and heartiness of the casserole, consider pairing it with a fresh fruit salad or a bowl of mixed berries, providing a refreshing contrast to the savory flavors. A simple green salad with a light vinaigrette can also offer a crisp and invigorating side that complements the casserole’s richness. For those who enjoy a touch of spice, some fresh salsa or a dollop of sour cream can add a zesty kick to each bite. Warm biscuits or homemade cinnamon rolls make excellent accompaniments. No matter what you serve alongside this dish, it is sure to earn a spot on your menu!
