How to Make The BEST Homemade Guacamole

As I said, this dip is very easy to make. Start with mashing some ripe avocados, leaving it slightly chunky. Squeeze some lime juice over the avocado. Fold in chopped onions, chopped jalapeños, diced tomatoes, cilantro, garlic, cumin, salt, and pepper. That’s it!

  • I used regular-sized avocados, not large/jumbo avocados.
  • What is the best way to keep guacamole fresh? To keep the avocado from turning brown, press plastic wrap directly onto the dip. You want to eliminate any air pockets.
    • Another popular storage method is placing the guacamole in the bottom of an air-tight container and covering it with lukewarm water before sealing the container. When ready to serve the dip, pour off the water and stir.
  • How long does guacamole last? Homemade guacamole usually lasts 1 to 2 days.
  • For a spicier dip, leave the seeds and membranes on the chopped jalapeños.
  • Don’t like cilantro? Feel free to leave it out of the recipe.
  • Sometimes I substitute a can of drained Rotel diced tomatoes and green chiles for the diced tomatoes in the dip.
