Pin This RecipeWe are both big fans of Greek food, so when I saw this recipe on Tasty Kitchen, I knew it would be a hit. The best part about this recipe is that the marinade doesn’t use any special/fancy ingredients – a huge plus for me! The chicken took no time to make and packed a lot of great flavors. The original recipe suggested serving the chicken with a tzatziki sauce. I decided to skip the tzatziki sauce this time and serve the chicken tenders over some orzo and marinara sauce. It reminded me of the Greek Chicken Marinara at Zoes Kitchen, one of my favorites! I can’t wait to make this again.
As I said, these Grilled Oregano and Lemon Chicken Tenders were a huge hit at our house. We ate them for dinner twice last week! We usually double the recipe so we can eat leftovers on a salad or in a sandwich wrap. Any way you choose to eat this chicken, I promise it will be a hit!

Lemon Oregano Chicken
Ingredients:
- 1 pound chicken tenderloins
- 3 Tbsp olive oil
- 2 Tbsp dried oregano
- 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ cup lemon juice
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
Instructions:
- Put the chicken into a ziplock bag.
- Add all other ingredients. Mix well, coating chicken on all sides. Let chicken marinate for ½ hour to 1 hour, covered in the fridge (I always marinate overnight).
- Place chicken onto a hot grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side or until the chicken is cooked through.
Notes:
- You can use this marinade on any cut of chicken– chicken breasts, chicken tenders, chicken thighs, chicken wings, or chicken drumsticks/legs.
- You can use boneless or bone-in chicken. Adjust the cooking time to ensure an internal temperature of 165ºF.
- I suggest pounding the chicken breast to an even thickness. We put the chicken in a ziplock bag and use a flat meat mallet to carefully pound out the hump. This ensures that the chicken cooks evenly and you don’t have juicy chicken and half-dry chicken.
- I don’t have a grill. Can I cook the chicken in the oven or skillet? Yes! To cook the chicken breasts inside, pan-sear it for 3 to 4 minutes per side over medium-high heat. Place on a rimmed baking sheet. Bake at 400ºF for 10 minutes.
- For extra lemon flavor, add lemon zest to the marinade.
- Can I freeze Lemon Oregano Chicken? Yes! You can freeze the chicken uncooked or cooked.
- Prepare the marinade. Place the chicken in a freezer bag and pour the marinade over the chicken. Seal the bag and freeze. When ready to cook, thaw in the refrigerator overnight and cook.
- To freeze cooked chicken, cool completely and place in a freezer bag and freeze. Thaw and reheat in the microwave.
- Store leftover chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

I have lots of fresh oregano in my garden. How much should I substitute for the dried oregano?
The standard fresh to dried substitution is 3 times fresh to dry. So, that would make this 6 Tbsp of fresh oregano
That's a heavy meal but it surely yummy. I'll save this recipe for this weekend. Have you add an onion powder?
Made this tonight…UNREAL!!!! So good! I will be making this many more times now that "grilling season" has begun!
looks so yummy…and love chicken
All of the oregano just clinging to the grilled tenders looks beautiful.
I have been meaning to try chicken tenders on the grill. Now I know how. Thanks.
