Pin This RecipeI saw this recipe over at one of my favorite blogs, KevinandAmanda.com, and couldn’t wait to give it a try! OMG! It was SO delicious!
I am really into these no-boil, one-pot skillet dishes. I have made several and we have loved all of them. They are easy to clean up and take less than 30 minutes to make. Who doesn’t love that?!
We both absolutely LOVED this dish. There was a nice smokiness from the sausage. We actually used smoked turkey sausage, but regular smoked sausage would be great too! The sauce had a great flavor as well. The parmesan cheese was perfect in the sauce. I wanted to eat the entire skillet by myself. Don’t worry, I didn’t. I reluctantly shared with Chicken Legs. There was enough leftover for lunch, and it was equally delicious reheated. This Cheesy Smoked Sausage Skillet will definitely be going into the regular dinner rotation!

Could you use regular pasta shells instead of the tortellini? Not sure my family will eat that tortellini. If so would you cook the pasta first or would it cook enough in the sauce? Thanks so much!!
Any changes and modifications to the recipe would be up to you.
I used alfredo because I don’t like red sauce. Haven’t tried it yet hope it is good
I have a 20oz package of tortellini, if I use the whole package, would I double everything?
Yes, or just use half the package and freeze the other half for later.
I’m curious on how this would turn out if cooked in a crockpot 🤔 what do you think?
How many people does this serve
All servings are listed under the recipe name – above the ingredients.
I made this last night and doubled the recipe. I wish I would have tripled it to be honest. The double batch fed my 30 year old son in law, my husband, my 10 year old daughter and myself. We have one small tupperware of leftovers. Next time I will make tipple so we can have leftovers.
I bought all the ingredients to make this dish tomorrow. The store didn’t have “refrigerated” Cheese Tortellini, so I bought frozen. Do I thaw out the pasta before I put it in the skillet pan? And if I use garlic powder, how much do you suppose I need? Thanks, I love your recipes.
You can use frozen tortellini. I usually thaw them before adding them to the crockpot.
Ok at first I was like unsure but when this was finished and I took a bite I was like “oh my “ the taste is amazing!!!! I will be making this quite often and I doubled the recipe to feed a larger crowd and it was great . Tastes even better as leftovers!!!!
SO glad you took a chance and tried it!
Loved it!!!
Should I cook the tortellini first or just simmer in the sauce?
just simmer it in the sauce
Where do you tortellini ?
I have made this several times now…love it. My daughter asked for the recipe and it is now apart of her meal rotation too. Five stars!!
What kind of Italian seasoning did you use?
What kind of Italian seasoning did you use?
McCormick makes a great Italian seasoning. I also really like Pampered Chef's seasoning.
Whoops I posted twice sorry and thank you!!
I just made this for dinner tonight and it was delicious. The only downside was it was a little too salty towards the end of my bowl. I'm new at cooking. Any suggestions to help bring the saltiness down?
there isn't any added salt in this dish. I would suggest using low sodium chicken broth and no-salt Italian seasoning.
Cooked this tonight, soooo yummy!
What type of veggie would be good with this?
A simple side salad? Some green beans?
I think green & red peppers with onions would be good with it. Mixed right in. Even zucchini and yellow squash.
Did you use real parmesan cheese or the green can?
Either will work – I used the green can for this because that is what I had on hand.
Looks awesome! To bad I'm suck with Cheese haters! LOL
