I have absolutely hated pot roast my entire life… and then I found this recipe. Wow! It's a weekly meal in our household these days. I use a chuck tender roast and it is to die for! My wife is so happy now that after 25 years, we're finally having a weekly roast!
I was the same way. So glad you finally found a good roast recipe!
Omg, the roast is AMAZING…taste just blew my taste buds away..my other half loved it as well..so from now on I will be cooking my roast this way.thanks for the recipe.????
I have a 7lb roast? Would you double other ingredients? Thanks!
Yum! I made this and served it in corn tortillas with pico! Green chile rice and corn on the side. Delicious!
How many servings does this 3 pound roast make?
I am finally getting around to making this. I am planning to serve it over cheese grits. I am so excited about it!
Do you think you could use a pork butt with this recipe?
sure – I think that would be fine
When you add carrots and potatoes, do you need to add water?
so you just add both packages dry????
yes – you are just using the mix dry.
OH MY GOSH.. we had this tongiht and it was AMAZING!! Ours was a little spicy.. but we LOVE the heat!! Added carrots and potatoes too!! It is a definite keeper as are all your recipes!! thanks!!
Sounds delicious! SO glad you enjoyed it!
Has anyone tried this with cut up potatoes in the crockpot along with it? How did it turn out?
we did!! and Carrots… amazing!!
Has anyone tried using less butter? Normally, I'm not one to complain about butter, but I'm trying to make healthier choices for myself.
I use half a stick of butter most of the time instead depending on the size of my roast. If it's over the 3 lb quite a bit I may just full stick but usually not if it's under. Didn't notice any big difference! (I'm with you on trying to be healthier in choices!) I did use a little mixing flour at the end to thicken gravy a bit.
Makayla – leaving out the Ranch would change the taste of the roast. You can certainly do that, but that is not the same recipe as above.
Can you just not put ranch in it and use just 1 packet of au jus packet, or will that effect the taste?
I use onion soup mix pacjet with the au jus
Mandy – I think about 4-5 hours on high would work fine. Enjoy!
I am making this today but I have my crock pot on high because of timing . We won't eat till late if I cook it low . Do you think on high for half the time will be ok ? I've done this with other recipes that call for low for all day or high for half the time cooking and they always turn out just fine . Thank you
