How to Make Monterey Chicken Braid
This braid is super easy to make. In a large bowl, stir together cooked chopped chicken, sour cream, spinach, Monterey jack cheese, garlic powder, and french fried onions. Season with salt and black pepper. Set aside.
Unroll a can of refrigerated pizza dough on top of parchment paper and roll it into a long rectangle. Using a sharp knife, make cuts on the long sides of the dough. Cut 12 wide strips on each side.
Spoon the chicken mixture down the center of the dough. Lift strips of dough and criss-cross across the filling. Place the braid on a baking pan and in the oven and bake until the dough has a deep golden brown color. Remove the braid from the oven. Sprinkle Monterey Jack cheese and french fried onions on top of the braid. Bake for an additional 5 minutes, until the cheese on top, has melted. Let the braid cool for 5 minutes and then cut into slices with a serrated knife or pizza cutter.
