This Wicked Good Steak Marinade is a new favorite at our house. We’ve been using it for several months and just can’t seem to get enough of it. I know some people don’t believe in marinating steaks, but at our house, we always marinate our steaks before cooking. I love all the extra flavor a marinade adds to the meat, and this marinade is packed FULL of amazing flavors! This might be my favorite way to season and tenderize a steak.
How to Make Wicked Good Steak Marinade
This marinade is super easy to make. Simply whisk together olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, hot sauce, brown sugar, beef bouillon, Montreal steak seasoning, minced garlic, dried onion, and black pepper. Pour the marinade over steak and let marinate a few hours to a few days.
- I suggest using a low-sodium soy sauce in this recipe.
- For the beef bouillon, I used a jar of Knorr beef bouillon granules.
- I used dried minced onion flakes in the marinade. Feel free to use fresh onion if you prefer.
- This marinade is good on any cut of steak that you prefer – ribeyes, NY Strips, filets, porterhouse, sirloin, skirt steak, or flank steak.
- You can cook the steaks on the grill or in a cast-iron skillet. Here is our steakhouse cooking method: https://www.plainchicken.com/steakhouse-filets/
- How long can steak marinate? I usually marinate the steak for about 4 to 6 hours and a maximum of 24 hours before cooking. According to the US Department of Agriculture, you can safely leave the marinated steak in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
What to Serve with Steak
This steak is seriously delicious! As I said, we’ve been making this about once a month and absolutely LOVE it. We like to serve the steaks with some potatoes, sautéd mushrooms, and a salad. Leftovers are great on top of a salad or in a quesadilla. YUM! Give this a try the next time you cook steak at home. I promise it will be a hit!

Used this on sirloin steak. Marinated them 24 hrs. OMG! They were delicious and tender. My hubby grilled them outside and they were great. We’ll be using this again.
