Hot Party Ham Sandwiches - Football Friday

This isn't any Football Friday, it's Championship Football Friday!  There are tons of big games being played this weekend, and these hot ham sandwiches are the perfect snack for watching all of them.  They taste fantastic and are easy to make!  They are great for a party (football or Christmas), lunch or even dinner.  

The sandwiches can be assembled ahead of time and baked when you are ready to serve them.  Chicken Legs walked in and said the house smelled great.  He said it reminded him of Honey Baked Ham. They taste great right out of the oven and reheated the next day.  We ate these for dinner and absolutely loved them.  

Hot Party Ham Sandwiches

1 dozen Brown 'N Serve rolls
1/2 lb sliced deli ham
12 slices provolone cheese
1/2 cup butter
2 Tbsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp yellow mustard
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp poppy seeds

Preheat oven to 350.

Split each dinner roll. Make a sandwich of the ham and cheese and the dinner rolls. Arrange the sandwiches in a 9x13 pan.

In a small sauce pan combine butter, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire and poppy seeds. Bring to a boil and pour over sandwiches.

Bake for 20-30 minutes, or until the tops are brown and crispy.

  3. I first had these about a thousand years ago, but I had kind of forgotten about them. I think the addition of brown sugar will put these over the top.

  5. I make a similar recipe using Hawaiian rolls, Swiss cheese, and honey mustard. They are so good and great for football game parties and tailgates!

  13. I made these night before last and they were very delicious. My kids loved them which says a lot b/c they are very picky eaters. I didn't use the poppy seeds though b/c my husband is weird about textures. 2 thumbs up!

  14. Just saw something like this, this morning in December's Southern Living and made a mental note to try it. I told Alexis when we saw it that these would also be perfect for Christmas day, having them already made up and ready to go into the oven for breakfast or afternoon snacking.

  17. Made these tonight for a football watching dinner. Scaled down for nine sandwiches in a 9x9 pan. I used King's Hawaiian rolls, so I didn't need to bake them quite so long, and I think I might cut back on the butter a bit next time. But, there will definitely be a next time. Served potato salad on the side. Thanks for sharing this one - we loved it!

  19. I made these and they were a huge hit, taste-wise. However, I could not slice the Brown and Serve rolls open to save my life! They were a mess! Any tips for this? I used a really sharp knife, but all I did was smush them and I wound up ripping them open.

    1. Try a serrated knife - that will make slicing the rolls a breeze
