Do you like black-eyed peas? Do you like baked beans? Then you are going to LOVE these BBQ Black Eyed Peas! I know this recipe might sound a little weird, but I promise it is crazy good! I actually prefer this recipe to the more traditional baked bean recipes. Black eyed peas baked in a homemade barbecue sauce and topped with bacon. I mean, what’s not to like?!?!? I could honestly make a meal out of just these yummy peas.

How to Make BBQ Black Eyed Peas

These baked beans are very easy to make. Start with making the BBQ sauce. Whisk together ketchup, BBQ sauce, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Next, drain and rinse canned black eye peas and stir into sauce. Pour the beans into a baking dish. Microwave some bacon. Chop the bacon and place it on top of the beans. Pop the dish in the oven and bake.

You can make this casserole ahead of time and refrigerate overnight. I haven’t tried freezing this, but I think it would be just fine. Great for summer cookouts and potlucks!
