This recipe is the perfect way to use up any leftover turkey you might have from your Thanksgiving feast today.

I’ve always been intimidated by the thought of making chicken and dumplings.  It seemed like a lot of work, so when I came across this recipe, I knew I had to give it a try.  It was simple and really quick to make.  It was fabulous! Chicken Legs especially loved it.  I used a rotisserie chicken and this came together in no time.  We will be making a turkey version this weekend!

  1. I made this yesterday for dinner. I had to come back and comment. It was delicious! My whole family loved it. This is a keeper, and I will be making it again very soon! Thank you for sharing a simple, very yummy recipe!

      1. This recipe was excellent. There were no leftovers! So happy with this. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe with us.

      2. I’ve made this recipe and it’s a big hit with everyone. Making it again but would like to make it with more dumplings. would I just double the flour , baking powder and milk to achieve that?

  2. I made this recipe and like the others said it is delicious. I made the full recipe but it is only for me. So had lots of leftovers. I tried freezing the leftovers in individual servings but it did not reheat very well. I plan on making 1/2 recipe next time and not freezing. Any suggestions on how to reheat this so it is still creamy?

    1. Jackie when I reheat foods like this (from the fridge and when frozen) I do not put them in the microwave. I heat on the stove top and always add some chicken broth as it is heating. The amount will depend on how creamy you want it, keep in mind that too much broth will make it soupy. I find freezing recipes similar to this one, the microwave just don’t keep the creaminess like pan heating. Hope this helps.

  3. This was delicious and the dumplings were my first, will make this again and with leftover chicken as broth will make a good meal with noodles, thanks 🙏🤗

  4. Loved it! My wife and I are empty nesters so I cut the recipe in half and baked it in an 8 x 8 pan. My wife loved it so much that she is already talking about fixing it again.

    1. Absolutely LOVE this recipe! It is a hit with my hubby, my teen and my picky eater! The first time I made this, everyone ate the entire casserole. I was so dissapointed that I didn’t have leftovers. Now I make two so I have them! I do make a little bit more dumpling mix (1 1/2c milk, 1 1/2c flour & 1 3/4t baking powder) Delish!

  5. I made this and love it,its more of a chicken pot pie than dumplings, I’ll add small can of peas and carrots in in next time, this recipe is a keeper.

  6. It’s very rare for me to leave a review but I just had to for this recipe. I will admit I didn’t expect so much flavor from this dish. It was amazing. Even my picky eaters loved it. I’ll be making this often. Thank you for sharing!!! YUM!

  7. I made this for my family and we loved it. My niece and her family cam to visit I made this and they liked it also; it is a crowd pleaser.

  8. I have made this several times and it is delicious and soooo easy to make. I always double the recipe for my family of four.

    1. I’ve never tried that, so I can not say. I am not sure how the dumpling batter would hold up if not baked immediately. If you try it, let us know how it works.

    2. No the flour and baking soda won’t make the dumplings if you do that. You can prepare your chicken and have everything set out and it takes two minutes to dish it for the oven

    1. Absolutely fantastic. I added mixed frozen veggies on top of the chicken and it was delicious. No leftovers tonight! Can’t wait to make this again!

  9. Looks so good but I have one question, what kind of flour is this? Easy too. I am making this tmrw as soon as I find out what flour you are using.
    Thanks,
    Sharon

      1. Love this recipe. I added frozen peas and carrots on top of the chicken. So easy and so delicious.

      2. Love this recipe. I added frozen peas and carrots on top of the chicken. So easy and so delicious.

      3. My Grandmama made this when I was growing up. She used SR flour & cream of celery soup but other than that it’s exactly the same. I make it every few months. My son loves it! It is one of my favorite comfort foods! 😋

      4. Can u use cream of celery instead of cream of chicken?? And can u use canned peas/canned carrots?

    1. This is THE best chicken pie recipe I found! I will sometimes substitute the flour and baking powder with Bisquick, but this is a no fail recipe and tastesoh so good! It will always be my go-to!!!

  10. I made this and it is absolutely delicious. My husband and I ate half the pan. It deserves five stars for sure. I will make this again.

  11. This was truly delicious! My husband had seconds. There’s a lot of liquid when you take it from the oven, just let it sit a few minutes and it thickens up. This recipe is a keeper!

    1. This was good. But it wasn’t quite dumpling texture. Dumplings are fluffy and soft. This was more bread like is the best way I can describe it.
But it was still very good. Just change the title to chicken pie or chicken and biscuits casserole.

      1. Actually Nana, since it’s Stephanie’s recipe she should continue to refer to it with the name SHE prefers, which is “Chicken & Dumplings”. Maybe you are unaware that your comment is not only unnecessary, but quite rude and disrespectful as well. The Author took the time to create the recipe, provide you with all the information you need to re~create the recipe, she included beautiful photos to show you what you could potentially expect when following her instructions, she answers questions from her followers when they request assistance, AND she’s the ONLY ONE who put in the time, money and probably more than a few tears to get this Blog/Site up and running. SHE made it the huge success that we have at our disposal today and SHE doesn’t deserve ridiculous comments regarding what SHE “SHOULD BE” calling her dishes! Shame on you, if you can’t say something nice, or keep your comment nice, then don’t bother, keep it to yourself.

  12. Just made for first time and it’s delicious! I added 1 can of drained mixed vegies in the chicken layer.
