My favorite food is pizza. I could eat it for every meal every single day. That being said, I am always thinking of new ways to make pizza. I don’t want Chicken Legs to get tired of having pizza! This Meat Lovers Pizza Casserole was fantastic! We both absolutely loved it!!
How to Make Pizza Casserole
I used hamburger, sausage, and pepperoni in this casserole. Feel free to add some veggies to the mix too!! The crust on this pizza casserole is on top. I used a can of refrigerated pizza dough and brushed it with some olive oil, Italian seasonings, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese. CRAZY good!
You can assemble this casserole ahead of time and bake it when you are ready. I would suggest waiting to put the pizza dough on top of the casserole until right before baking. I find that refrigerated doughs don’t rise as much if you let them sit in the refrigerator overnight.

Meat Lovers Pizza Casserole
Ingredients:
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 lb pork sausage
- 1 cup chopped pepperoni
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 4 tsp Italian seasoning divided
- 1 (26-oz) jar tomato basil pasta sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 (13.8-oz) can refrigerated pizza crust dough
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 3 Tbsp grated parmesan cheese
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 425º F. Lightly spray a 9×13-inch pan with cooking spray.
- In a large skillet, cook ground beef and sausage over medium-high heat until no longer pink. Drain well and return to skillet.
- Add pepperoni, flour, and 3 tsp Italian seasoning; stirring until blended. Stir in pasta sauce. Bring mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Remove from heat and spoon mixture into prepared pan. Sprinkle with 1½ cups mozzarella cheese.
- Unroll pizza crust and place on top of mozzarella cheese. Brush crust with olive oil and sprinkle with remaining teaspoon of Italian seasoning, ½ cup mozzarella cheese, and parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden brown.

This was actually really good. Very easy to make. Its a keeper
I just had this for dinner using crescent rolls instead of pizza crust. It was so good! I made the sauce a couple of days ago when meal prepping. Today I just warmed it up in a skillet and continued with the recipe. Giving it a couple days for the flavors to marry made it so very good! I wasn’t sure what to serve with it. I decided on a side of pasta with a quick skillet Alfredo sauce. The flavors were so complimentary. This is definitely a keeper!
Can you freeze this?
Can the leftovers be frozen and used for another meal?
I don’t see why not.
We do not have refrigerated pizza dough here in Australia. Can you suggest an alternative for this please?
It is hard to find where I am as well. I have not made this yet but refrigerated crescent roll dough would work as well. I use it to top a lot of casseroles like this and its delicious.
What about putting pizza crust on the bottom and the top???
I have not tried this casserole with crust on the bottom and top. You can certainly give it a try. If you do, tell us how it turns out.
Do you use Tennessee pride sausage or Italian sausage? Looks delicious – going to make for company.
Either is fine. I’ve used both and they both work great
