On our last trip to NYC, we took a Pizza Tour. We went around on a yellow school bus and ate pizza all around New York. It was THE BEST! One thing we noticed was that the sauce was mainly just fresh tomatoes. Not a tomato sauce based sauce like some pizzerias use. The sauce at all of the pizza places we went on the tour was so simple and incredibly delicious. I was looking through one of my cookbooks and found a recipe for a No-Cook Pizza Sauce. It sounded just like what we had in NYC. I had to give it a try.
How to Make No Cook Pizza Sauce
O-M-G! This is my new “go-to” pizza sauce. Only 5 ingredients. Nothing crazy and it is ready in no time. I used a can of San Marzano tomatoes. I highly recommend San Marzano tomatoes. They are delicious. I find them at Fresh Market, Whole Foods, Sprouts and Publix where I live. If you can’t find San Marzano tomatoes, buy a good name brand can of whole tomatoes. The tomatoes are the star in this recipe. Don’t skimp!!
The sauce will keep for several days in the refrigerator. I used the sauce on a homemade pizza for dinner and then for lunch on some tortilla pizzas. YUM! This sauce is really delicious and is a new favorite.
**Here is the link to the pizza tour we took in NYC. It was THE BEST. I HIGHLY recommend doing this on your next trip to NYC – https://www.plainchicken.com/2015/06/scotts-pizza-tour-new-york-city.html **
What Goes with Pizza
This pizza sauce is a new favorite at our house. I always have a jar in the refrigerator for pizza night. It is also a great sauce for breadsticks, toasted ravioli, and on top of our Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan. We usually serve this with a quick salad for a meal that is 100 times better than delivery!

I don’t have a food processor or whole tomatoes right now, but I do have a can of crushed tomatoes, do you think that would work?
I think that would work just fine. Enjoy!
Before I make this, can I freeze the prepared sauce ? Or can one freeze the unused canned tomatoes ?
I haven't frozen this sauce, but it should be OK.
This sounds exactly like what I have been looking for, too! I do not care for oregano and the Italian herb blends that usually accompany pizza sauces. And that NYC pizza tour??? I'm all in!
Thanks so much for sharing Ü
