This Overnight Million Dollar Chicken Pasta is on repeat in our house. It is SO good! We can not get enough of this easy chicken casserole. We LOVED all the flavors in this casserole. Creamy chicken pasta loaded with four types of cheeses. The best part about this recipe is that you don’t have to boil the pasta before making it! Perfect for busy weeknights. Add this to your menu ASAP!
How to Make Overnight Million Dollar Chicken Pasta
This chicken pasta casserole is very easy to make. In a large bowl, whisk together chicken broth, milk, cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, cottage cheese, cream cheese, and seasonings. Stir in the cooked chopped chicken and pasta. Pour the mixture into a lightly greased baking dish. Cover this dish with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and refrigerate overnight. It will be ready to bake the next day for lunch or dinner.
- Do NOT cook the noodles ahead of time. Add them to the casserole dry/uncooked. They will absorb some of the liquid in the casserole dish as it sits overnight. They will finish cooking in the oven along with the rest of the casserole.
- I used rotisserie chicken in this dish. It is my number one timesaver. We always have some pulled rotisserie chicken in the freezer for quick meal prep. It makes preparing casseroles like this a breeze!
- You can use any combination of cream of soups in this casserole. Cream of chicken, mushroom, or celery is all good.

I’ve already made this recipe and we loved it! However, I am making a bunch of freezer meals and would like to include this recipe. Would you suggest that I bake it first and then freeze it? Thanks for your help.
Dear Plain Chicken, Making this for the weekend. All aounds delish!!
You must be a very patient person!!! I’m not sure I could stomach the bone head comments!!
Thanks for a great recipe!!!
This recipe is ingenious and definitely a do over. I will be making this over and over again. It was easy and delicious. Easiest way to make pasta ever!!
This is a great recipe! I’d love to know if I can shorten the overnight time. Has anyone done that with success?
Making this recipe now and was left without cream cheese thought I had but did not so would it be ok to leave it out???
does it have to refrigerated over night? can u make it all and bake the same day?
I haven’t tried that so I can not say if the pasta will soften sufficiently. If you try it, let us know how it turns out.
Found this recipe online because I was looking for a quick and easy dish to make for dinner. You did not disappoint. It was super easy and my family Loved it! Definitely adding to my favorite go-to comfort meals.
This was amazing! It smelled so good baking and tasted just as good. This will be on my list of ‘make again’ dinners. The next time I am going to add some chopped mushrooms to the mix. Well worth the effort to make.
Absolutely delicious…freezes really well also. Definitely will be making it again
This is absolutely amazing! You could taste every ingredient with each bite. I topped it with crispy fried onions and it was soooo good!
I used Penne, and more than likely bow ties would be fun.
Heaven help us how do some of these people manage to cook? This is not gourmet, it’s a quick easy put together meal, for a busy family. Geez Louise folks, use your common sense and just wing it!!
Making this today! If I wanted to freeze half of it at what point in the recipe would I freeze it?
Fucking idiots in these comments. Nothing you couldn’t Google or figure out yourself. Comments on a recipe are supposed to review the dish – which is absolutely AMAZING.
I don’t like the rotisserie chicken in the store. I just don’t trust that it’s fresh, can you use raw chicken.
No. This recipe uses cooked chicken. You can use any cooked chicken.
Can you substitute anything in place of the cottage cheese?
Any changes and substitutions are completely up to you.
Took this to a family reunion, everyone LOVED it and ask for the recipe. So easy to make. Will be making again and again…..
I don’t care for mushrooms, can I just do another can of cream of chicken soup.
I’m making this soon, is there a substitute for cottage cheese, not a fan of it. Thanks
Any substitutions and changes to the recipe are completely up to you.
My family despises cottage cheese, is there anything that be substituted for that? Thanks! 😊
Any substitutions and changes to the recipe are entirely up to you.
Maybe you can substitute it for ricotta cheese.
You can use Ricotta cheese instead of cottage cheese.
Not fond of cottage cheese either. However, in this recipe that small amount of cottage cheese blends into the flavor. It does not have the taste you would get straight up from the container. I used small curds. I Did not tell others in my family who detest cottage cheese the recipe contains it, no one noticed it and everyone loved it. I also added Boursin Cheese, I subbed Tastefully Simple Garlic Garlic & Onion Onion for the powders, and used Penne pasta. Wonderful, quick and easy meal. Serve with a tossed salad and home made garlic bread. Yum!!!!
Ricotta
Can you freeze half of this after you bake it? How would you reheat – from frozen or thawed?
Can this be done in a slow cooker??
I’ve never made this in the slow cooker, so I can not say how it would turn out.
LUV YOUR BLOG!!!! great recipes
Will this work with canned chicken as well?
Any cooked chicken will work fine.
Can this be made ahead and frozen? Thanks again 😊
How much is 8oz. of pasta – 1 cup of dry? Can you use any type of small pasta?
Generally 8 ounces of short pasta (like macaroni) is about 2 cups. Having said all that, what’s generally listed on the packages/boxes of most dry pasta as the serving size is 2 ounces.
I used penne. I also saw similar overnight recipes using Linguini.
Can you use a different kind of pasta——-like bow tie pasta?
I used penne. I also saw similar overnight recipes using Linguini.
