How to Make Pizza Crescent Rolls

These pizza pockets are super easy to make with only four simple ingredients. In a large skillet, cook sausage over medium-high heat until no longer pink. Drain excess grease. Add pizza sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese. Stir.

Separate crescent rolls into rectangles. Spread the sausage mixture down the middle of the rectangles. Bring the long edges over the filling to make a log. Slice the log into four pieces and place rolls seam side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Top the bites with parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of oregano and garlic powder or Italian seasoning. Bake in a preheated oven until golden brown. Brush hot rolls with melted butter, if desired. Garnish with a pinch of parsley.

Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  • In a large skillet, cook sausage over medium-high heat until no longer pink. Drain excess grease.
  • Add pizza sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese. Stir to combine.
  • Separate dough into 8 rectangles; seal seams.
  • Spread sausage mixture down the middle of each rectangle. Bring long edges up to cover the filling; cut each into 4 squares.
  • Place, seam-sides down, on a parchment-lined baking sheet and sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese and a dash of Italian seasoning, if desired.
  • Bake 13 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly.

Notes:

You can use crescent rolls or crescent dough sheets for this recipe. Regular or reduced-fat are fine.
Can add any of your favorite pizza toppings to the filling – mushrooms, onions, olives, peppers, ham.
This recipe makes 32 pizza bites. You can easily cut the recipe in half if you don’t need that many.
I find it easier to cut the crescent bites with a pizza cutter wheel. The pizza cutter glides through the filled dough and the filling doesn’t ooze out.
You can assemble the bites and refrigerate them a couple of hours before baking.
