How to Make Pizza Crescent Rolls

Separate crescent rolls into rectangles. Spread the sausage mixture down the middle of the rectangles. Bring the long edges over the filling to make a log. Slice the log into four pieces and place rolls seam side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Top the bites with parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of oregano and garlic powder or Italian seasoning. Bake in a preheated oven until golden brown. Brush hot rolls with melted butter, if desired.   • Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  • In a large skillet, cook sausage over medium-high heat until no longer pink. Drain excess grease.
  • Add pizza sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese. Stir to combine.
  • Separate dough into 8 rectangles; seal seams.
  • Spread sausage mixture down the middle of each rectangle. Bring long edges up to cover the filling; cut each into 4 squares.
  • Place, seam-sides down, on a parchment-lined baking sheet and sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese and a dash of Italian seasoning, if desired.
  • Bake 13 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly.

Notes:

You can use crescent rolls or crescent dough sheets for this recipe. Regular or reduced-fat are fine.
Can add any of your favorite pizza toppings to the filling – mushrooms, onions, olives, peppers, ham.
This recipe makes 32 pizza bites. You can easily cut the recipe in half if you don’t need that many.
I find it easier to cut the crescent bites with a pizza cutter wheel. The pizza cutter glides through the filled dough and the filling doesn’t ooze out.
You can assemble the bites and refrigerate them a couple of hours before baking.
