How to Make Cheesy Hash Brown Chili Bake

This casserole is super easy to make. Brown some ground beef. Mix together the cooked meat, a can of chili, a can of sloppy joe sauce, hash browns, and cheese. Cover and bake. Remove the foil. Top with more cheese and some french fried onions and bake until bubbly.

  • Can substitute ground turkey for ground beef.
  • I used a can of Original Manwich Sloppy Joe Sauce. You can use any flavor that you prefer.
  • I used a can of Hormel chili with beans. Feel free to use a can without beans.

    • You may need to add a few minutes to the cooking time if cooking cold straight from the refrigerator.
  • Can Cheesy Hash Brown Chili Casserole be frozen? Yes! Assemble the casserole and cool completely. Cover and freeze until ready to bake.
    • To bake after freezing, thaw and bake as directed.
  • For a gluten-free dish, omit the french fried onions.

  1. I made this awhile back. I was looking for something that was quick, but most importantly budget friendly that didn't taste… you know…. gross LOL. This recipe was PERFECT! My husband and kids loved it and it's so incredibly quick to put together, and perfectly budget friendly. We just loved this dish. I will definitely be making it again soon.

  2. Turned out pretty good. I added a half can of Mexican cheese sauce I had laying around. I think it actually mellowed out a lot of the Manwich taste. Thanks!

  3. I made this for lunch today and actually made some eggs over easy and put them on top of our servings. Served with biscuits and it was kind of like a breakfast hash. It was yummy!

  4. I would love it. My hubby doesn't like any kind of taco or casserole. Really doesn't like chili that much. What's wrong with that man?
