Easy Skillet Cajun Pasta Recipe

This Smoked Sausage Cajun Alfredo is SO good! This was so good that we made it two days in a row! I’m still dreaming about it!! It reminded me a lot of our all-time favorite Chicken Lazone. There are only 5 ingredients in this dish, and it only took about 15 minutes from start to finish. I LOVE easy weeknight meals like this!

How to Make Smoked Sausage Cajun Alfredo

This pasta is super easy to make. Start with cooking some pasta. While the pasta is cooking, brown some smoked sausage in a skillet. Add heavy cream and Cajun seasoning; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer gently for 3-4 minutes or until mixture begins to thicken. Remove from heat, stir in Parmesan cheese. Add pasta to the sauce and toss.

  • To cut down on the calories, I used turkey smoked sausage. It tasted great and we couldn’t tell any difference from the regular smoked sausage.

  • If you are worried about this being spicy, you can certainly reduce the amount of cajun seasoning.
  • You can use any shape of pasta that you prefer.

  1. Made this tonight with Trader Joe’s andouille sausage. Tastes really good, although I nearly quadrupled the amount of the seasoning! If youre like me and love strong flavor and spice, I definitely recommend giving it another hearty spoonful or two of the seasoning.

  2. This recipe is so easy to make yet it looks and tasted like it took hours to prepare. The Cajun seasoning recipe is wonderful. I can’t wait to try pork chops!

  3. AMAZING! This is our new favorite recipe. So easy and delicious at that. I double the sauce recipe to match with a whole box of pasta and it is just so yummy. Thank you for this keeper!

  4. Any good ideas on how to reheat leftovers? My husband reheated the leftovers in the microwave at work, and the sauce separated. It looked like a big pool of grease. It was still yummy, he just avoided the grease.

    1. When I reheat cream based sauces, I add extra liquid and go low and slow on the stovetop so it doesn’t separate. It definitely takes more time, but is worth it.

  5. Love the simplicity of this recipe! I added some Johnny’s seasoning salt at the end since it wasn’t quite as flavorful as I wanted, but I used tofurky kielbasa so a good smoked sausage probably would have added that extra kick. It really separated something fierce when reheated but was still tasty. Overall I would make it again because it’s so EASY, but will add some red bell pepper and more seasoning next time 🙂

  6. I’m not a fan of Cajun anything. Being from ranching country in Canada I’m not used to flavouring foods with those spices.
Can anyone recommend a substitute seasoning?

    1. Try some ranch or maybe once you have it good and hot some shredded cheddar omit parm or not. Or you couldcook some garlic and then add it. I would probably ad areg can of diced tomatoes to either mixture

    2. It’s your kitchen and no one will know what you do there!

However, I’ll encourage you to try it the way it’s given. It’s not that hot and it is very tasty. Just because you’re from Canada doesn’t mean you can’t try new things!

    3. Someone commented that they used old bay, which is an east coast seafood style seasoning with good results. You want to find something with salt and flavors that compliment the type of sausage you are using. For example, Costco has a caprese chicken sausage that could be used with this, but I’d use Italian spices rather than cajun. Cajun or Andouille style sausage calls for the cajun spice mix.

  7. Fantastic recipe! Only complaint is there were no leftovers lol! This will become a family staple for sure. Thanks!

    1. This was amazing! Like top ten recipes for dinner ever. I added some scallions and orange bell pepper. Will definitely make this again. I love your recipes!

    1. I haven’t, but you can certainly try it. You may need to add a little flour or cornstarch if the sauce doesn’t thicken.

  8. This was so good!! Perfect flavors with a noce kock, great for a hearty dinner on any night and suoer quick and easy. I added some garlic to the meat and sautéed for about a minute before adding the cream!

  9. Love this recipe- have made it several times with the addition of spinach— we love this meal! Thank-you!

  10. I make this recipe often, but I add Slap Ya Mamma Cajun seasoning, lawrys seasoned salt, salt & pepper, annnnd SHRIMP! Literally so dang good
