Pounding chicken breasts in a ziplock bag

Tips for Grilling Chicken

Before we get to the recipes, I want to share some of my favorite tips for grilling chicken.

  • My first tip is to make sure to pound your chicken breasts to an even thickness. We place the chicken in a ziplock freezer bag and use a meat mallet to pound the chicken. This will ensure that your chicken cooks evenly. No more half cooked, half dry chicken breasts!
  • My second tip is if you are cooking your chicken on a charcoal grill is to make sure that you use a chimney charcoal starter. There is nothing worse than grilling a great meal and having it taste like lighter fluid. Skip the lighter fluid and start using a Chimney Charcoal Starter! It is super easy. All you need is the chimney starter, newspaper, charcoal, and a lighter. Stuff the newspaper in the bottom of the starter, fill with charcoal, and light. It takes 10 to 15 minutes for the charcoal to be ready for the grill.
  • All of the recipes can be used on any cut of chicken you prefer – breasts, tenderloins, thighs, or drumsticks. You can use boneless or bone-in chicken. You will need to adjust the cooking time depending on the cut you choose. Use a meat thermometer to ensure an internal temperature of 165ĀŗF.

Can Grilled Chicken Be Pink?

NO! Unlike pork or beef, chicken cannot be pink inside. Chicken needs to be cooked to an internal temperature of 165ĀŗF. It typically takes us 12 to 15 minutes for chicken breasts to reach temperature.

How to Grill Chicken Without a Grill

I know several of you don’t have a grill. Don’t worry! You can still make all these yummy grilled chicken recipes. My go-to method to cook chicken indoors is to pan-sear the chicken 3 or 4 minutes per side and then finish it off in the oven at 425ĀŗF for 10 minutes.
